The Space
An annual golf tournament for Christian youth activities eventually grew into Wright Memorial Event Center, a fund that has since netted more than $150,000 for buses, vans, literature, and youth missionary trips. Jeff and Jeanette Wright bought the 80-acre property in 2006 off N.C. 700 and Hampton Road and built the center from that fundraising root rather than starting as a commercial venue from day one. Jeff was born in Caswell County and Jeanette in Alamance County, and the couple lived in Rockingham County starting in 1992, working as building and grading contractors, before moving to Oklahoma in 2003.
Part of the building’s lumber came from trees Jeff Wright felled on his own property near Rockingham Lake Road after Hurricane Fran, so the wood in the structure has a specific, traceable origin rather than being generic milled stock. The Wrights themselves were building and grading contractors before this project, which shows in a facility built with hands-on construction knowledge rather than contracted out from scratch.
Capacity & Layout
The property has three named spaces. Ivy Ridge is the largest, holding up to 600 guests and including a dedicated stage area suited to a band or DJ setup. The Ballroom handles smaller gatherings, with marble floors, crystal chandeliers, and granite countertops giving it a more formal finish than the other rooms. The remaining spaces run closer to 240 guests.
That range, from an intimate Ballroom event up to a 600-guest Ivy Ridge reception, means a couple can pick a room sized to their actual guest list instead of overpaying for space they will not fill or squeezing into something too small. An outdoor ceremony lawn rounds out the property, plus a separate pavilion used for outdoor events and music festivals.
Amenities
The Ballroom’s finishes, marble floors, crystal chandeliers, and granite countertops, set it apart from a typical event barn, and it pairs with full bar service and on-site catering so a couple is not coordinating multiple outside vendors just to feed and serve guests. Multiple dressing rooms are available for the wedding party, useful when Ivy Ridge’s larger guest count means more people getting ready on site at once.
Large tents are available for outdoor coverage beyond the pavilion, and the venue is handicap accessible, which matters given the property spans 80 rural acres where uneven, unpaved ground could otherwise be a real obstacle for guests. On-site accommodations are listed as available too, a convenience for a wedding party or out-of-town family staying through the weekend.
Location & Getting There
The center sits in rural Rockingham County, about 10 miles north of Reidsville, on 80 acres off N.C. 700 and Hampton Road. That rural setting is part of the draw for couples wanting open land and distance from town noise, though it also means guests are driving in from Eden or further, not walking from a downtown hotel.
The Ivy Ridge room’s dedicated stage area and LED lighting were built with live performance in mind, so a DJ setting up there has a defined footprint rather than making do in a corner of a repurposed room. The Ballroom’s harder marble floors carry sound differently than Ivy Ridge’s finished stage space, so which room a couple books changes how the reception should be mixed for the room.
