The Space

Wheel of Bliss started in 2012 as a summer retreat for practitioners traveling up from South Florida, and it still reads that way: 63 acres of private mountain land bordering more than 100 acres of Pisgah National Forest, built for people who want to be outside as much as inside. Two large streams and waterfalls run through the property, with trails connecting the buildings to the land around them.

The main lodging is Bliss House, six bedrooms and sixteen beds with a master suite that has its own infrared sauna and jacuzzi, built more for a multi-day stay than a single evening. We worked this property, and the combination of mountain land and separate gathering buildings gives a wedding weekend room to spread out rather than compressing everything into one space.

Capacity & Layout

The main house is built for 4 to 7 day retreats and hosts more than 21 attendees at a time, which sets the scale for a wedding here: intimate rather than large, and organized around a weekend rather than a single day. The Celestial Center, a Mongolian-style yurt at roughly 825 square feet, is built for large group practices and ceremony, and works as a ceremony space with real character.

For meals and gathering, the Celestial Hall longhouse adds about 950 square feet with a kitchen, a dining area set with long tables and benches, and its own bathrooms, separate from Bliss House itself. Having three distinct buildings, the house, the yurt, and the longhouse, means a couple can move guests through ceremony, dinner, and lodging without doubling up any one room.

Amenities

Bliss House’s kitchen serves the whole property, and the master suite’s infrared sauna and jacuzzi are the kind of detail that turns a wedding weekend into an actual retreat for the couple, not just a single-day event. The Celestial Hall’s long tables and benches are already set up for a communal dinner rather than a formal plated one.

Outdoors, the two streams, the waterfalls, and the trail network give guests somewhere to walk between events, which matters when a wedding stretches across several days rather than an afternoon. None of this is dressed up for photos, it is the actual working retreat property, which is part of its appeal for a couple who wants the mountains themselves to be the setting.

Location & Getting There

The property sits in Hot Springs, North Carolina, bordering Pisgah National Forest, deep enough into the mountains that guests should plan on a real drive in rather than a quick trip from town. That distance is also the point: the 63 acres are private, and the forest boundary means there is no development visible from the grounds.

Guests coming from outside the region will most likely fly into Asheville and drive the rest of the way, so travel time is worth building into the wedding weekend schedule rather than treating it as a same-day arrival. For sound, the yurt’s round shape and soft interior handle a ceremony’s acoustics well, while the longhouse, with its wood surfaces and lower ceiling, holds music at dinner without carrying it back into Bliss House.
