The Space

Valenzano is a working winery before it is a wedding venue, and that history runs deep: the family farmed grain and livestock in Burlington County starting in the early 1970s, planted grapes as a hobby in the early 1990s, and turned that hobby into Burlington County’s first winery when they opened to the public in 1996, producing under 500 gallons that first year. Today the operation maintains 88 acres of vineyard and produces 80,000 cases of wine annually.

Two separate properties handle events. The main property on Route 206 holds the tasting room, the Bari Wine Pub, the production facility, and the Winemaker’s Ballroom. A second event ground on Old Indian Mills Road holds the Wine House, a converted historic farmhouse, and the Vintner’s Pavilion with its own courtyard, which operates seasonally from May through October rather than year-round.

Capacity & Layout

The Winemaker’s Ballroom seats up to 250 guests, making it the venue’s largest room and the natural choice for a full-size wedding reception. The Vintner’s Pavilion seats up to 150 and works well for a mid-size guest list, especially given its own courtyard and covered stage area with a gazebo for a ceremony backdrop. The Wine House, smaller still, seats up to 50 for a couple planning an intimate wedding.

We have worked an event on this property, and the range across three rooms matters in practice: a couple is not squeezing a small guest list into a room built for 250, or trying to overfill a 50-seat farmhouse. Ceremonies typically happen on the vineyard patio, with the vines themselves as the backdrop, before guests move to whichever reception room fits their headcount.

Amenities

The Wine House comes with its own wine bar built around a mahogany bar top, and the barrel room is available for cocktail hour, putting guests among the actual wine production rather than a generic lobby. Catering runs through Summit Catering or another approved caterer, and the Bari Wine Pub on the main property gives the venue an additional on-site dining option beyond the banquet spaces.

Outdoors, the Vintner’s Pavilion has a covered stage area and a gazebo, plus four large fire pits lit with gas tiki torches for guests once the sun goes down. Getting that outdoor space built was not simple: the NJ Pinelands Commission required three years and $250,000 in environmental and archaeological studies before construction on the banquet facility could begin, a reflection of how protected this stretch of the Pine Barrens is.

Location & Getting There

Valenzano sits in Shamong, inside the New Jersey Pine Barrens, a setting that gives the vineyard ceremony backdrop its character and keeps the property feeling rural despite its size and output. Free parking is available on site, and the winery is wheelchair accessible throughout, which matters given the property spans two separate addresses that guests move between over the course of an event.

Between the covered, open-sided Vintner’s Pavilion and the fully enclosed Wine House and Winemaker’s Ballroom, sound setup changes room to room: the pavilion is open to the courtyard air and needs coverage built for an outdoor crowd around the fire pits, while the enclosed rooms hold sound the way any indoor hall would, so we build the DJ setup around whichever space the couple has booked.
