The Space
Triple C Brewing Company opened in Charlotte’s South End in August 2012, founded by Chris Harker with head brewer Scott Kimball, who got into brewing after hiking the Appalachian Trail in 2006 and later ran the brewhouse at Eddyline Brewpub in Colorado before coming back to Charlotte. The Barrel Room came later, in 2017, a separate event space and working brewery built out of what had been a janitorial storage building, one Harker started leasing back in October 2015.
The full Barrel Room footprint runs 10,000 square feet, split between a 4,400-square-foot banquet hall and an 800-square-foot outdoor patio, with a working seven-barrel brewing system visible through floor-to-ceiling glass as part of the room itself. That is a different scale of brewing than the 15-barrel system at the main taproom, but it means guests at a Barrel Room wedding are standing next to an actual production brewery, not a decorative one.
Capacity & Layout
Seated capacity runs 400 or more, putting the Barrel Room in range for a genuinely large wedding, and the banquet hall’s 4,400 square feet gives that guest count real room to spread across dinner tables and a dance floor without feeling packed in. The 800-square-foot patio adds an outdoor option alongside the indoor hall, useful for cocktail hour or a breath of fresh air from the reception without guests having to leave the property.
The reception site itself combines the banquet hall with its own bar, a kitchen, and direct patio access, so the flow between an indoor dinner and an outdoor break is built into the layout rather than requiring guests to cross into a separate building. With brewing equipment visible behind glass as part of the room’s design, the space reads as a working brewery first and an event hall second, a different backdrop than a neutral ballroom.
Amenities
The bar runs 20 taps covering beer, wine, and nitro lines, so guests have real variety without needing an outside bar service, and Triple C’s own beers carry real credentials behind them: a bronze medal for the 3C IPA and Zest-A-Peel, and a silver medal for the Baby Maker Double IPA, all from the Great American Beer Festival. For a couple who wants their wedding bar to actually mean something rather than a generic open bar, that is a specific, provable pour list.
A full prep kitchen sits on site for catering, the venue is handicap accessible, and the sound system is described as premium, paired with two 120-inch projector screens, useful for a slideshow, a livestream for guests who cannot attend, or simply displaying photos through the reception. Those built-in AV screens are a detail that a couple planning speeches or a video montage would otherwise have to rent separately at many other venues.
Location & Getting There
The Barrel Room sits in Charlotte’s South End, directly across the street from Triple C’s original taproom, and the neighborhood is close to the New Bern Light Rail Station, giving guests who do not want to drive or park a real transit option to and from the reception.
We have worked a wedding in this room before, and the space’s mix of a 4,400-square-foot enclosed banquet hall with hard surfaces and brewing equipment against an open 800-square-foot patio means a DJ setup carries differently depending on where the dancing happens: the indoor hall holds sound in tightly against its glass and industrial surfaces, while the patio lets it open up outward, so a couple choosing where to place the dance floor is also choosing how the night sounds.
