The Space

Arnold Palmer designed the golf course at TPC Piper Glen, working natural streams and ponds directly into the layout when the course opened in 1988, and it quickly built a reputation as one of the best courses in the region. In 1994, the PGA Tour officially designated it a TPC facility, Tournament Players Club, making it one of a small number of private clubs nationwide carrying that affiliation, and from 1990 to 2001 the club hosted the PGA Tour’s annual Home Depot Invitational.

Beyond the course itself, the club includes the K62 restaurant and bar, tennis courts with lighted courts for evening play, a swimming pool, a fitness center, and event rooms built for weddings, corporate meetings, and other private gatherings. The course itself carries real character even away from the fairways: rolling hills, tree-lined holes, water features, natural rock outcroppings, oak trees, and quiet lake inlets, with members reporting bald eagles flying over the 18th hole on a daily basis.

Capacity & Layout

The course runs 18 holes at par 72, playing to 6,936 yards from the back tees across 200 acres of land, numbers that matter less for a wedding day itself than for the sense of scale they give the grounds around the clubhouse and event rooms. A course record of 60, twelve under par, held by PGA pro Brendon de Jonge, is the kind of detail that gives the property real standing among golfers in the wedding party.

The event rooms operate separately from the course and clubhouse dining, giving a wedding its own contained space rather than sharing the K62 restaurant with regular club dining service. That separation matters for timeline planning: a reception booked in the event space runs on its own schedule, independent of whatever else is happening in the restaurant or on the course that same evening.

Amenities

The K62 restaurant and bar anchors the clubhouse’s food and drink service, backed by tennis courts, a swimming pool, and a fitness center that give a multi-day wedding weekend other activities beyond the golf course itself. The club operates year-round, with a full practice facility, driving range, practice bunkers, and putting greens, available to any guests in the wedding party who want to play a round before or after the event.

The property was sold to Heritage Golf Group in 2007 but kept its TPC branding under a licensing agreement, so the course’s tournament history and affiliation carried forward through the change in ownership. Bermuda grass greens run across the whole course, a detail groundskeeping-minded guests may notice, and the wildlife along the back nine, including the eagles over the 18th, gives the grounds a genuinely natural feel uncommon this close to Charlotte.

Location & Getting There

TPC Piper Glen sits off I-485 in south Charlotte, close enough to the city for an easy drive from most hotels while still backing onto the streams, ponds, and lake inlets that give the course its character. Guests coming from out of town should expect a suburban club setting rather than a downtown venue, with parking available on site near the clubhouse and event rooms.

Inside the event rooms, separated from the open-air course and its water features, a DJ setup runs in a fully enclosed space, which keeps sound contained to the reception itself rather than carrying out across the fairways, and our team’s one event here found the room’s layout straightforward to work once equipment was set up away from the restaurant’s own dining space.
