The Space

Elvira Evelyna Worth Moffitt founded this club in 1904, with 141 charter members at the inaugural meeting in the State Capitol Library Reading Room, and the club grew to 180 members within its first year. It was incorporated in 1906 and has occupied three clubhouses over its history, moving through locations on Morgan and Salisbury Streets and then Hillsboro Street before settling into its current building at 3300 Woman’s Club Drive.

The club still operates as a nonprofit today, and its current clubhouse is surrounded by acres of woodland with a landscaped garden patio, home to the six rental spaces that make up what is now called Mirrors Venue. A full commercial grade kitchen sits inside the building, and an exterior garden area with a small stage rounds out the grounds, so the property carries both the working history of a civic organization and the built-out amenities of an event venue.

Capacity & Layout

Mirrors Venue breaks into six named spaces: the Lobby at 2,000 square feet holding 60 guests, the Maddrey Parlor at 318 square feet holding 30, the President’s Parlor at 317 square feet holding 22 and containing a working grand piano, the Board Room at 505 square feet holding 25, and Stevens Dining Room at 613 square feet holding 30. Each of the smaller rooms suits a specific piece of the wedding weekend, a rehearsal dinner in Stevens Dining Room or a small bridal party gathering in one of the parlors, rather than the full reception.

The Daniels Ballroom is the venue’s largest space, split into an upper ballroom of 1,156 square feet holding 120 and a lower ballroom of 2,880 square feet holding 300, which can be rented separately or combined for a total capacity of 420. That range, from a 22 person parlor up to a 420 person combined ballroom, means a couple can host the entire wedding weekend on one property regardless of guest count, scaling the room to the event rather than the other way around.

Amenities

A full commercial kitchen on the premises supports catering directly, and the club maintains established relationships with local caterers for couples who want a recommendation rather than sourcing one on their own. The exterior garden area includes an outdoor amphitheater, giving a couple a dedicated outdoor ceremony space built into the grounds rather than a lawn improvised for the occasion.

Parking is ample and free, sitting adjacent to the club, which removes one more logistical question for a venue that can host up to 420 guests at once. The President’s Parlor’s working grand piano is a detail worth knowing for a couple who wants live music for part of the day, cocktail hour or a ceremony prelude, without bringing in an instrument of their own.

Location & Getting There

The club sits inside Raleigh’s I-440 beltline, just off Glenwood Avenue near Crabtree Valley Mall, about 15 minutes from downtown Raleigh and roughly 20 minutes from RDU International Airport, a central location for guests arriving from out of town.

With hard-floored parlors and dining rooms on one end of the property and the larger, open Daniels Ballroom on the other, sound behaves differently room to room, so a DJ working a reception in the lower Daniels Ballroom is set up in the venue’s biggest open room, built to carry music and a dance floor across 300 seated guests, while the smaller parlors nearby stay naturally quieter for conversation.
