The Space

The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort was founded in 1911, built around A.W. Tillinghast’s first-ever golf course design, and the resort has carried that pedigree ever since, hosting PGA and Senior PGA Championship events over the decades. The 250-acre property sits inside the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, on the banks of the Delaware River in the Pocono Mountains, with the Main Inn serving as the central lodge for dining, gathering, and accommodations.

The resort has passed through a small number of notable owners, including C.C. Worthington and Fred Waring, before landing with the Kirkwood family, who still run it today. The resort holds 103 guest rooms altogether, with 80 of those inside the Main Inn and the rest spread across the Evergreen House, Delaware Lodge, rental houses, and cottages scattered over the 250 acres.
