The Space
This property carries two histories at once: a manor house that is roughly 260 years old, and a Revolutionary War site where British and Continental soldiers skirmished at Oil Mill Run, now called Rex’s Bridge, in 1777. Robert Fair Caterers developed the grounds as a wedding venue in 2010, and in 2011 Whitpain Township approved the license agreement that let the venue open under the name Weddings by The Pond, with Tony Breuninger on staff from that debut year forward.
Inside the manor house itself, the rooms keep their residential names and scale: the Library, the Dining Room, the Living Room, the Lounge, and the Great Room, each usable for smaller gatherings within the larger event. For the main reception, a heated and air-conditioned ballroom tent takes over, built in two tiers with sides that roll up to open the room to the gardens, so the tent reads as a real room rather than a plastic-sheeted add-on.
Capacity & Layout
Seated capacity runs to roughly 280, with cocktail-style events accommodating up to 300, so this is a venue built for a full guest list rather than a small one. Five separate outdoor ceremony locations are available, including a pond-side setting, two different views of the barn, a private island reached by a stone bridge with its own gazebo, and an open field, which means the ceremony can look nothing like the reception a few hundred feet away.
The tented ballroom includes a 2,000-square-foot dance floor with additional floor space specifically designed to hold either a DJ setup or a 12-piece band, so the sound equipment is not squeezed into leftover corner space. The venue is exclusive-use, one event per day, which means your timeline is not competing with a second wedding’s vendors moving through the same hallways and parking lot.
Amenities
Catering is exclusive to Robert Fair Caterers, a fifth-generation catering family with more than a hundred years in the business; the great-grandfather catered the Philadelphia Antiques Show for twenty-two straight years, and the family has served clients back to the Roosevelt administration. The venue is BYOB with no corkage fees, RAMP-certified bartenders are included, and there is complimentary tableside wine service during dinner, all of which keeps bar costs in the couple’s own hands rather than the venue’s markup.
The bridal suite opens at 11am and stays available for the entire event, and a separate groom’s room with seating, a TV, and a speaker gives the other half of the wedding party its own space rather than a shared corner. Professional uplighting with 50 color variations is included, along with a minimum of four planning meetings and a day-of coordinator, so the lighting and the schedule are both handled before the day arrives.
Location & Getting There
The property sits on 82 acres in Ambler, with twin ponds, fountains, and waterfalls giving the grounds a settled, established look rather than a newly landscaped one. A large on-site parking lot with security lighting handles guest parking directly, and the site is ADA accessible with a wheelchair-accessible entrance, restroom, and parking, so getting around the grounds does not require navigating gravel paths or stairs.
Because events must end by 11pm out of respect for neighboring properties, the schedule runs on a firm clock that a DJ needs to plan against from the first dance onward. The tented ballroom’s roll-up sides mean the room can be closed for full climate control and contained sound, or opened toward the gardens for a softer, more open feel, giving a DJ real flexibility depending on how the couple wants the room to feel that night.
