The Space
The Lodge at River Valley is first a members-only fly fishing club, built around 2 miles of frontage on the Musconetcong River where anglers routinely catch brown, rainbow, and brook trout together, one of the rare fisheries where all three species share the same water. All fishing on the property is fly only and fully catch and release, and that working identity carries through into the wedding venue: this is a real fishing and farm property first, rented out for events second.
The grounds sit on a 240-acre organic working cattle farm with nine private fishing pools, and the event spaces are built around that setting rather than apart from it. Beyond weddings, the property hosts shooting, golf, and farm-to-table events, which says something about the character of the place: guests should expect a working sporting property, not a manicured event lawn, with a main lodge, a restored farmhouse, and a separate groom’s cabin all in use across the day.
Capacity & Layout
Seated capacity runs up to 200 guests with tables and chairs included in that figure, with additional capacity to 250 available for larger weddings. The indoor space totals more than 6,000 square feet of air conditioned and heated area, spread across the main lodge’s reception room with its fireplace and a separate outdoor covered pavilion, so a couple can plan a fully indoor event, a fully covered outdoor one, or a mix of both depending on guest count and season.
The property also sleeps up to 10 overnight guests across 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms in the lodge itself, with the restored farmhouse offering additional bedrooms and bathrooms and a salon station for the bridal party to get ready on site. That overnight capacity, combined with a separate groom’s cabin for the other side of the wedding party, means the whole day, getting ready through send-off, can happen without anyone leaving the property.
Amenities
A commercial catering kitchen is on site with stainless steel counter space, a two-part sink, an ice machine, and a refrigerator, giving caterers real working equipment rather than a warming station. There is also a dedicated bar room with a white bar and exclusive bar service available, so the drink service has its own space rather than sharing a corner of the reception room.
Parking is a well-lit lot for 80 cars or more, with separate lots set aside for the bridal party and for handicapped guests, a detail that matters for a property this large where guests could otherwise end up parking far from the ceremony. Indoor restrooms are ADA-compliant, and pets are allowed on the property, useful for a couple who wants a dog in the wedding party or simply wants their own animals nearby.
Location & Getting There
The property is just over an hour from downtown Manhattan, close enough to draw a New York guest list without asking anyone to plan an overnight trip, while the nearest airport is Lehigh Valley International for guests flying in from further away. Two miles of river frontage and 240 acres of working farm give the setting a genuine rural New Jersey character despite that proximity to the city.
The lodge has a hard-wired sound system with speakers running throughout the building and out onto the back porch, meaning a DJ is not building coverage from scratch: the existing wiring already extends music from the indoor reception space to the porch, so an event that moves between the enclosed lodge and the covered outdoor pavilion can keep consistent sound across both without extra equipment runs.
