The Space
Matthew and Rachel Haggerty operate The Hubbard House, a Victorian farmhouse built in 1904 in Farmer, just outside Asheboro, on 2.5 acres that still carry mature nut trees and an organic garden. The restoration kept the old-world details intact rather than stripping them out: tall ceilings, original wide plank floors, and fireplace mantels from the house’s original construction are all still in place more than a century later.
The wrap-around porch is the house’s signature feature, visible in nearly every set of wedding photos taken here, and it wraps far enough around the structure to give a couple multiple vantage points for portraits rather than one predictable backdrop. A brick patio and a detached 2-car garage round out the grounds, giving the property a working farmhouse feel rather than a staged event space built to look old.
Capacity & Layout
At 2.5 acres, The Hubbard House sits on a modest, walkable footprint rather than a sprawling estate, which means guests are not making a long trek between the ceremony spot and the reception space. The outdoor grounds include southern pine trees that frame the ceremony site, and the scale of the property keeps the day feeling personal, guests moving easily between porch, patio, and lawn rather than being shuttled across a large parcel.
On-site parking comes with a parking director during the rental, and a shuttle service is provided to bring elderly or handicapped guests from their cars to the house itself. That detail matters more at a working farmhouse than at a flat urban venue, since older guests or anyone with mobility limits would otherwise be walking a fair distance from the parking area to the porch and gardens.
Amenities
Although the house was built in 1904, its systems were brought fully current: insulated windows, a newer roof, updated wiring and plumbing, modern heating and cooling, and a generator hookup are all part of the restoration. That combination means a couple gets the visual character of a century-old home, plank floors and original mantels, without gambling on old wiring or a house that cannot handle modern heating, cooling, or event-day power needs.
Catering is available upon request, with the venue providing a list of catering companies rather than requiring one specific vendor, and alcohol is allowed, including outside alcohol brought in by the couple. Pricing runs seasonally, $1,100 from January through April, $1,500 from May through September, and $1,300 from October through December, giving a couple real room to plan around budget and season rather than a single flat rate year-round.
Location & Getting There
The Hubbard House sits near Asheboro, close enough for Piedmont-area guests to reach without a long drive, while still feeling like a rural retreat once guests arrive at the farmhouse itself. That balance, close to town but visually removed from it, is part of what the wrap-around porch and pine-framed ceremony lawn are able to deliver.
Sound on the property splits between the wood-floored interior of the century-old farmhouse, which holds a softer, warmer tone suited to dinner and toasts, and the open lawn and porch areas outside, where a DJ needs equipment built to carry sound across open ground rather than off interior walls, particularly for a ceremony held among the pines.
