The Space

Grand Marquis has been a family-owned banquet hall in Old Bridge since 1986, and it holds two distinct rooms rather than one flexible ballroom split by a curtain. The Dome Room is a Roman-inspired space built around a genuine domed ceiling, with floor-to-ceiling windows opening onto a private patio and a circular dance floor set at the center of the room, unusual in a region where most reception floors are rectangular.

The Marquis Ballroom is the larger of the two, a Grand European-style room with marble columns and a marble dance floor, built to hold a much bigger crowd. The family behind the venue also runs full-service kosher catering that has stayed in the family for three generations, with a separate kosher kitchen operating under rabbinical supervision, so the food program is built into the building rather than brought in as an outside vendor.

Capacity & Layout

The Dome Room seats up to 250, which suits a mid-size wedding that still wants a room with a distinct architectural identity rather than a generic hall. Its circular dance floor changes how the room reads once tables are cleared: guests surround the floor instead of facing it from one side, so the room feels active from more angles, and it is worth planning DJ and head table placement around that shape rather than a standard rectangular layout.

The Marquis Ballroom scales up to 800 guests, one of the larger rooms in the area we cover, with an 8,400-square-foot footprint and marble flooring underfoot for the dance floor itself. A guest list that would feel thin in the Dome Room has room to spread out here without losing energy, and the venue’s own event coordinators work the room regularly enough to know how tables, dance floor, and DJ setup fit together at that scale.

Amenities

Catering on-site covers American, Continental, Italian, Asian, Mediterranean, and Spanish menus along with vegetarian, kosher, and halal options, and the venue specializes in Bar and Bat Mitzvah events as well as weddings, so the staff is used to programming a room for a range of religious and cultural traditions. In-house event coordinators are part of the package, handling the logistics of the day rather than leaving a couple to coordinate every vendor themselves.

Accessibility is built in with ramps at both the main and side entrances, hearing-impaired fire alarm lights, and trained staff, and valet parking is available at a flat rate for up to 24 hours, useful for a wedding that runs from ceremony through a late reception. The venue operates year-round, daily, so there is no seasonal window to plan around, and a multi-million dollar renovation is currently underway, meaning finishes may be newer than what current photos show.

Location & Getting There

Grand Marquis sits in Old Bridge, about 12 miles from LaGuardia Airport, which puts it within reach of guests flying in from New York as well as the regional New Jersey crowd. That distance is short enough that a rehearsal dinner or after-party the night before is realistic for out-of-town family without a long drive tacked onto their travel.

We’ve worked a reception in this building, and the two rooms behave differently for sound. The Dome Room’s height and glass walls give a DJ some natural reverb to work with under that dome, while the Marquis Ballroom’s larger, flatter footprint and marble floor call for speakers angled to cover the room’s full width rather than relying on the room itself to carry the sound the way the Dome does.
