The Space

Built in 1685 as the Blane Homestead, this is the oldest known building in Hampton, NJ, and one of the oldest continuously celebrated properties in the state. The original stone fireplaces were built with stones carried across the Atlantic as ship ballast, and the walls themselves are over two feet thick with hand-hewn wood beams more than three and a half feet wide, which is a scale of construction nobody builds anymore.

By Landmark took the property on in December 2018 and restored it while adding a dramatic floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace to the Ballroom. The Silo came later still: an authentic Pennsylvania barn taken apart and reassembled on site piece by piece, now fitted with handcrafted blacksmith railings and its own two-story brick fireplace, so it reads as historic even though its placement here is comparatively recent.

Capacity & Layout

The Grand Ballroom seats up to 265 and is finished in reclaimed barn wood, vintage fixtures, wide-plank floors, and crystal chandeliers around that new stone fireplace, which gives a couple a formal, ballroom-scale room without losing the property’s age. The Silo seats up to 170, smaller and more vertical, with exposed wood beams, a wood-burning fireplace, and a mezzanine that gives the room a second level to look down from.

Standing capacity across the property reaches 300, and there are four dedicated getting-ready suites, two assigned to each event space, so a couple booking the Ballroom is not sharing prep space with a couple in the Silo on the same day, and each side of the property functions as its own self-contained wedding rather than two events awkwardly overlapping.

Amenities

The grounds carry their own history beyond the two main buildings: a 19th-century Schoolhouse and the Kissing Tree, a landmark that has stood on the estate for generations, both sit on the more than 10 acres surrounding the Ballroom and the Silo, giving couples places to walk and take photos that are not just backdrops built for the purpose.

Outdoor amenities include fire pits and a private patio at the Silo, plus a gazebo out on the grounds for an outdoor ceremony, and the property is fully accessible, which is worth noting given how much of the estate is original 17th-century stone-and-timber construction; older buildings built this way do not always accommodate wheelchairs and walkers as well as this one does.

Location & Getting There

The Farmhouse sits on over 10 acres in Hampton, NJ, grounds that have carried weddings and gatherings for generations even before the 2018 restoration, which is part of why it is described as one of the oldest continuously celebrated wedding properties in the state rather than simply an old building that was repurposed once for a new use.

The two reception rooms handle sound differently. The Ballroom’s wide-plank floors and stone fireplace sit under a more open, formal ceiling suited to a full band or a DJ running a big system for 265 guests, while the Silo’s exposed beams, brick fireplace, and mezzanine make for a tighter, more vertical room where sound reflects off wood rather than plaster, better suited to its smaller 170-guest crowd.
