The Space
A renovated warehouse in Charlotte’s South End and Wesley Heights area, The Collector’s Room sits directly beside Elder Gallery of Contemporary Art, and the two properties share about 10,000 square feet of combined event space. Inside, more than a dozen iron chandeliers hang over a large, three-sided bar, and couples can curate their own art selection to hang on the venue’s walls for the event rather than live with whatever is already there.
The building also opens upward and outward: an open-air mezzanine sits above the main floor, a back patio strung with market lights extends the space outdoors, and a back garage area with a foosball table gives guests a casual spot away from the dance floor. Access to the adjoining Elder Gallery adds a further option for cocktail hour or a pre-event gathering before the main room opens. Local media described the venue as new when it was featured in a December 2019 story, and the space has had several years since then to settle into how South End weddings actually use each of its rooms.
Capacity & Layout
The Collector’s Room seats up to 200 and holds up to 300 in a standing, social-style layout, a wide enough range that the same room works for a seated dinner reception or a looser cocktail-style event. With the main floor, mezzanine, patio, and back garage all available, a couple can spread a large guest list across several distinct areas instead of packing everyone into one room for the whole night.
Ceremonies can be held on-site, and the venue’s multiple spaces give a couple room to separate ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception without resetting the same room three times in one evening. That flexibility matters most for a guest count near the upper end of the range, where moving people between spaces keeps any one area from feeling overcrowded. The starting site fee’s included tables and chairs cover up to 150 guests, so a couple planning toward the upper end of the 300-guest standing range should expect to add rental furniture beyond what the site fee provides.
Amenities
Full-service catering and bar are included in venue packages, with Beau Monde licensed through the NC ABC Commission to provide alcohol, house beer, wine, and open bar options directly rather than requiring an outside licensed caterer. Limited outside catering is allowed by special arrangement, and setup and tear down for all facility-provided items are handled by the venue rather than left to the couple’s vendors.
Getting-ready rooms are available on-site, so the bridal party is not sharing a bathroom mirror with arriving vendors. Plug-and-play AV for a band or DJ is included as well, and the building is wheelchair accessible throughout.
Location & Getting There
The Collector’s Room sits in Charlotte’s South End and Wesley Heights neighborhood, steps from the Bland Street Light Rail Station, which gives out-of-town guests staying near the rail line an easy, car-free way to reach the venue. On-site parking is supplemented by additional parking in a nearby garage for guests who drive in instead.
Between the main floor’s warehouse brick and the open-air mezzanine above it, sound behaves differently depending on which level a DJ is set up on: the ground floor’s hard surfaces and high ceiling carry a fuller, more reflective sound, while the mezzanine and back patio sit more open to the air, which is exactly why the venue includes plug-and-play AV built for either setup.
