The Space
The land under this clubhouse has history going back to the 1700s, when William Gause, Sr. purchased the property overlooking what is now Ocean Isle Beach. Local history holds that the name Brick Landing comes from the colonial era, when bricks were unloaded from England at a landing near here to build the Gause family home. President George Washington is said to have visited the Gause plantation in 1791, on his way to Georgetown, South Carolina.
The residential golf community around the clubhouse was formally established in 1984, and the clubhouse building itself passed through different owners and restaurant tenants over the following decades. In 2025, 13 community-minded Brick Landing property owners bought the clubhouse specifically to preserve it as the community’s hub, rather than let it change hands again to an outside operator. That ownership structure means the building’s future is tied directly to the people who live around it.
Capacity & Layout
The second-floor ballroom seats up to 130 guests and comes with what the venue itself describes as picture-perfect balcony views, so the room’s main draw is what is visible outside its windows as much as the room itself. For a couple planning around a guest list in that range, the ballroom is sized to hold a full reception without feeling like it is stretching the space.
An outdoor ceremony space overlooks both the golf course and the Intracoastal Waterway, giving couples a water-and-fairway backdrop for the ceremony itself before guests move upstairs to the ballroom. On-site bridal suites and get-ready rooms mean the wedding party can prepare in the same building where the ceremony happens, without a separate stop beforehand.
Amenities
The Links at Brick Landing, an 18-hole championship golf course that plays through marshes and along the Intracoastal Waterway, is part of what a couple is looking at from the ceremony site and the ballroom balcony alike. The course was renovated and reopened on September 12, 2018 with newly rebuilt greens, so the fairways framing the wedding photos are a relatively recent version of the course, not a worn-down original.
Parking is described as plentiful on the property, which matters for a waterside venue where guests often drive in from Ocean Isle Beach or further along the coast rather than walk from a nearby hotel. Between the golf course views, the waterway, and the ballroom’s balcony, the property leans on its setting as the main amenity, more scenery than banquet-hall extras.
Location & Getting There
The clubhouse sits along the scenic banks of the Intracoastal Waterway in Ocean Isle Beach, less than an hour’s drive from Wilmington’s airport, which keeps the trip manageable for guests flying in from out of state. The waterway and the golf course together give the property a genuinely coastal feel without putting the wedding directly on the beach.
Ceremonies staged outdoors overlooking the golf course and waterway are open air, with water and fairway providing the backdrop rather than any acoustic shelter, while the second-floor ballroom is an enclosed room with its own balcony looking back out over that same view. A DJ working here plans for both settings: open, unshielded sound for the outdoor ceremony, and a more contained setup once the evening moves upstairs into the ballroom.
