The Space

The Century Room is a turn-of-the-century ballroom in downtown Asheville, part of Pack’s Tavern, with high ceilings, exposed wood trusses and original brick walls that the venue describes as carrying a Prohibition-era grandeur. Alongside the main ballroom, the Parkside Patio offers a smaller, more intimate setting with both covered and outdoor areas, also overlooking Pack Square Park. Having both a large indoor ballroom and a smaller outdoor patio on the same property, both looking out over the same park, gives a couple two genuinely different settings without leaving Pack’s Tavern, useful for splitting a ceremony from a reception or setting cocktail hour apart from the main event.

Capacity & Layout

The Century Room holds up to 180 seated guests or 250 for a standing reception, a range that covers most wedding sizes without the room needing to be dressed up or scaled down dramatically either way. The Parkside Patio, by contrast, seats 25 to 40 guests, sized for a rehearsal dinner, a smaller ceremony, or an intimate cocktail hour rather than the full guest list.

That combination lets a planner mix formats: a smaller ceremony or cocktail gathering on the Parkside Patio, followed by the full reception in the Century Room once the guest count climbs past what the patio can comfortably hold. With high ceilings and exposed wood trusses overhead, the main ballroom’s 180 to 250 person range does not feel like a stretch even near its upper capacity, since the room’s height gives it visual room to breathe.

Amenities

A full-service bar and an on-site kitchen cover the full range of service, from hors d’oeuvres through dessert, with catering offered for plated, buffet, or family-style meals depending on what the reception calls for. Because catering and bar service are both handled in-house through Pack’s Special Events, a couple is not coordinating separate outside vendors for food and drink on top of the venue rental itself.

The Parkside Patio’s mix of covered and outdoor space gives a weather option for anything planned outside, useful in a mountain city like Asheville where conditions can shift during an event. The Century Room sits in downtown Asheville at Pack’s Tavern, directly overlooking Pack Square Park. We have worked an event here, and the downtown location means guests should expect city parking and walkable surroundings rather than a large dedicated lot, a tradeoff that comes with a genuinely central Asheville setting and park views most suburban venues cannot offer.

Because the venue sits in the middle of downtown Asheville, build parking and guest arrival time into your schedule the way you would for any city-center venue. Inside the Century Room, the high ceilings and exposed wood trusses give sound plenty of room to carry across the ballroom without a tight, boxed-in bounce, while the exposed brick walls add a bit of natural reflection that keeps the room from feeling acoustically dead, well suited to a DJ running music across a packed dance floor.
