The Space

The Black Stallion is a 20,000-square-foot luxury home on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, located in the gated Currituck Club golf community in Corolla. The home contains 24 bedrooms and 32 bathrooms, making it a true destination venue where nearly all guests can stay overnight on-site. The property spans over an acre and features spacious decks, a 30-foot by 50-foot heated pool with a custom cover convertible to a dance floor, two hot tubs, and a sauna. Seven event spaces within the home and on the grounds allow you to design your celebration across multiple rooms and outdoor areas: the main floor for ceremony, a built-in event space called "Plan B" with top-notch audio-visual systems and catering kitchen, a game room, bar areas, and the pool and deck area.

A grand bridal suite features a three-sided gas fireplace, vintage claw-foot slipper tub, walk-in closet, and a balcony overlooking the pool. Two fully functional commercial kitchens mean catering is handled whether through an on-site team or outside caterers. The scale of the home means your entire celebration, from morning preparations through late evening, occurs in one location.

Capacity & Layout

The venue accommodates up to 300 guests across the seven event spaces. The bedrooms sleep most or all of your guest count if overnight stay is part of your vision, turning your wedding weekend into a multi-day destination event. The flexibility of multiple spaces means ceremony, reception, dancing, dining, and late-night celebrations can flow between rooms and outdoor areas without guests ever feeling cramped.

The heated pool converts to a dance floor via its custom cover, providing an unique indoor-outdoor dancing area. Game room spaces with pool tables, shuffleboard, ping pong, and foosball offer entertainment between formal event segments. Multiple bars throughout the home mean your caterer or mixologist can serve from various locations.

Amenities

Everything a large celebration requires is on-site. Two commercial kitchens are available for catering prep and plating. Tables, chairs, and serving equipment need to be coordinated, but the kitchens and service spaces are built in. Twenty-four bedrooms mean guest accommodations are part of the package. Climate control throughout the home keeps all spaces comfortable. An elevator and wheelchair-accessible trolley service (from the community’s free Currituck Club trolley system) provide accessibility. Electric vehicle charging via a Juicebox 40 Model is available for guests with EVs.

Parking is available on the driveway and grounds. The Currituck Club community offers a free trolley service to the beach (5 minutes by car or 7 minutes by trolley), fitness center, and golf course, letting guests explore beyond the home if desired. The community is less than a mile from Harris Teeter grocery and local shops and restaurants.

Location & Getting There

Corolla sits at the northern tip of North Carolina’s Outer Banks, accessible via Route 12 without requiring specialized vehicles. The gated Currituck Club community is exclusive and well-maintained, placing your celebration in a private, secure setting on the Banks. The barrier islands landscape of sand, sea, and maritime forest creates a distinct geographic backdrop unlike mainland venues. The location is roughly 3-4 hours from the Raleigh area and 2-3 hours from Hampton Roads, Virginia.

The home’s multiple spaces require strategic sound planning: the built-in event space "Plan B" has dedicated audio-visual systems already in place, the pool area with its dance floor cover provides excellent acoustic properties from hard surfaces and the water’s reflectivity, and the main living areas have different ceiling heights and acoustic characteristics. A professional DJ setup can serve the primary dance space while ambient sound systems cover other gathering areas, keeping volumes appropriate for each zone. The home’s construction with hard floors and open ceilings means sound carries well and allows music to project without deadening.
