The Space
This English Quaker barn dates to 1792, which makes it one of the older structures still hosting weddings in the region, and it is still run by Merv and Jenn, third-generation owners who continue the farm’s original operation alongside the event business. The 4,500-square-foot barn keeps its exposed wooden beams overhead, and an original corn crib on the property has been converted into a working bar area rather than replaced with something built new.
A newer indoor event space sits alongside the historic barn, finished with white shiplap walls, accent lighting, and a large stone fireplace, giving couples a second interior option with a different character than the exposed-beam barn. Outside, a custom-designed pergola anchors a courtyard ceremony space that overlooks the valley, and a multi-tiered stamped concrete patio handles cocktail hour and photography in a space separate from where dinner and dancing happen later.
Capacity & Layout
The barn seats up to 200 guests, with standing capacity closer to 225, and the rental period runs a full 12 hours, from 11am to 11pm, which covers ceremony, reception, and setup time without a couple having to pay for extra hours just to get the room ready in the morning. Tables and chairs are included, and the venue’s own staff handle setup and cleanup, which takes two line items off a couple’s rental checklist entirely.
A dedicated loft area is built into the barn specifically for DJ and lighting equipment, which means a DJ setting up here is not competing for floor space with the dance floor or working out of a corner improvised for the day. That loft placement also affects sightlines and sound coverage, since the setup sits above the crowd rather than at guest level.
Amenities
The bridal suite offers comfortable seating and a private bathroom for the wedding party to prepare in, while the groom’s lounge takes a different approach entirely, with a pool table and a wet bar for a more relaxed pre-ceremony atmosphere. Having two distinctly different prep spaces, rather than one room split in half, lets each side of the wedding party spend the morning in a space suited to how they actually want to spend it.
The barn is climate-controlled and handicap accessible, so neither summer heat nor winter cold forces the event indoors on a fixed schedule, and mobility is not a barrier to any part of the property. Parking is available on site, and with tables, chairs, and staff-run setup and cleanup already included, the practical logistics of the day are largely handled before a couple even arrives with their vendors.
Location & Getting There
The property sits in rural Atglen, in Chester County, Pennsylvania, with views overlooking the surrounding valley, which is part of why the pergola courtyard was positioned where it was for ceremonies.
We have played a wedding in the barn at Stoneybrooke, and the dedicated DJ loft changes the setup considerably: with speakers positioned above the floor and the room’s exposed beams overhead, sound projects down and out across the dance floor evenly, while the newer shiplap-walled event space next door is a tighter, more contained room where a smaller setup carries the same event without needing the same volume.
