The Space
Unlike a lot of barns on the wedding circuit, this one was built from scratch as an event space rather than converted from an old dairy or tobacco structure, and that shows in the proportions. The 4,800-square-foot barn has exposed beams, high ceilings, and an open floor plan designed around a dance floor and a head table rather than retrofitted around stalls and support posts left over from farm use.
The barn sits on a 50-acre farm that has stayed in the same family for more than 70 years, and the working-farm feel carries into the grounds: a perennial garden and a set of silos give the property texture beyond the main building, and both double as outdoor gathering spots for cocktail hour or portraits before the reception starts.
Capacity & Layout
The venue holds up to 240 people, and every rental includes tables and chairs, which is worth noting because that line item disappears from a lot of couples’ rental budgets before they even ask. Between the barn interior and the outdoor lawn, there is room to run a ceremony outside and walk guests straight into the reception without a long gap or a second parking scramble.
Separate suites for the bride and groom mean both sides of the wedding party have a private place to get ready, which keeps first-look photos a genuine surprise and keeps the morning from turning into one crowded room. With the barn heated and air-conditioned year-round, none of that planning depends on the weather cooperating, which matters for a venue that also runs outdoor ceremonies.
Amenities
A prep kitchen on site supports outside catering, so a couple is not limited to a single approved caterer working out of a converted closet. Cocktail hour has a dedicated spot too: the bar sets up under the silos, which gives that part of the evening its own distinct backdrop instead of happening in the same room where dinner and dancing will follow.
Parking is ample and on site, which matters more than it sounds for a farm venue where guests might otherwise be directed to park along a rural road. The perennial garden offers some natural shade for daytime portraits or an outdoor cocktail hour, and between the garden and the silos there is more than one usable outdoor space if a couple wants to spread the day across the property.
Location & Getting There
The farm sits just east of Raleigh in Knightdale, minutes from I-440 and about 30 minutes from RDU airport, which makes it workable for a guest list that includes out-of-town family flying in. It reads as rural once you are on the property, but it is not a long, winding drive to get there from the city.
We worked a reception in the barn, and the room’s height and exposed beams make it a forgiving space for sound: the open floor plan and high ceiling let music fill the room evenly without the flat, boxed-in feel smaller converted barns can have, so a DJ set up along one wall can cover the dance floor without pushing volume into the seated dinner tables nearby.
