The Space
Strike City occupies a spot in the Epicentre, Charlotte’s uptown entertainment complex, and the space has changed hands and design more than once since it opened. Bowlero Corporation acquired the venue in 2018 and transformed it in 2019 into what now operates as Bowlero Charlotte, with a retro-inspired look built around vintage Edison light fixtures and dramatic wall graphics rather than the venue’s original design.
Eighteen bowling lanes run through the middle of the space, now lit with blacklight rather than the composite lanes’ original look, with laneside lounge seating along the edges. Three full bars and a restaurant serving food from Libretto’s Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen fill out the rest of the roughly 25,000 square foot floor, alongside billiards and an arcade. Vintage Edison fixtures throughout the room carry the retro theme from the entrance to the lanes themselves.
Capacity & Layout
The venue seats up to 200 guests in its largest configuration, with standing room for around 75 more, numbers that give a couple a real ceiling to plan a guest list against before booking. Private event rooms are built into the layout as well, each holding up to four bowling lanes, which lets a couple section off part of the venue rather than renting the entire floor. That kind of private room could suit a rehearsal dinner or a smaller welcome party ahead of a larger reception elsewhere on the floor.
Sixty-five plus HDTVs and what was described as the largest sports ticker in the venue run throughout the space, a detail that shapes how a reception here actually feels: guests are never far from a screen, which suits a casual, activity-driven event more than a formal seated dinner.
Amenities
Three full bars keep drink lines short across a large crowd, and the on-site restaurant, run by Libretto’s Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen, provides full food service without a couple needing to bring in outside catering. Billiards and arcade games, including pinball and foosball, give guests something to do between the bar and the bowling lanes. A full restaurant kitchen behind Libretto’s name keeps food moving without long waits at a single counter.
The venue is fully wheelchair accessible, and a large parking lot serves the Epicentre complex, which matters in uptown Charlotte where street parking is limited. The bowling lanes themselves double as a built-in dance floor area once pins stop being the point of the evening, and the laneside lounge seating gives guests a place to sit that is not a traditional banquet chair.
Location & Getting There
The venue sits at the Epicentre on East Trade Street, in the middle of uptown Charlotte’s entertainment district, putting guests within walking distance of other bars and restaurants before or after a reception. Strike City operates from 11am to 2am daily, with age restrictions after 9pm that a couple should factor into a wedding timeline if younger guests are on the list.
Indoors, the venue is a large hard-floored room built for noise, bowling pins, arcade games, and multiple bars all going at once, so a DJ here is working with a space that already expects volume rather than one built for quiet. That makes it a room where music has to compete with, and generally can hold its own against, everything else happening on the floor.
