The Space
Sterling Ballroom operates inside the DoubleTree by Hilton in Tinton Falls, a 178-room hotel that opened in October 2010 after Hotels Unlimited converted a former Holiday Inn that had carried that name since 1991. The property underwent a $7 million floor-to-ceiling renovation in spring 2023 that touched the ballroom, the guest rooms, the lobby, the meeting rooms, and the outdoor pool, so the version of the space couples see today is a recently refreshed one rather than a room booked unchanged for a decade.
The hotel’s banquet operation has built a track record over that time: Hotels Unlimited’s venues have picked up 84 consumer choice awards from The Knot, WeddingWire, and New Jersey Bride since 2011, along with 40 TripAdvisor Certificates of Excellence, and Sterling Ballroom itself earned the WeddingWire Couples’ Choice Award in 2023. We have worked a wedding in this room and can say the awards track with a hotel that runs its event side as a real specialty, not an afterthought to room bookings.
Capacity & Layout
Reception space centers on the Sterling Ballroom itself, with the adjoining Sapphire Ballroom typically used for cocktail hour, giving a couple a natural room-to-room flow rather than cramming cocktails and dinner into one space. Beyond the two ballrooms, the property has four smaller salons, labeled A through D, plus a boardroom, which cover overflow seating, a card table room, or vendor meetings without borrowing space from the main event.
Total event space across the property runs over 8,400 square feet, which is enough to host a full wedding with a live band or DJ setup, a dance floor, and separate cocktail seating without guests feeling stacked on top of each other. The hotel does not publish a fixed maximum guest count for the ballroom, so couples work directly with the venue to fit their list to the room rather than working from a published cap.
Amenities
Wedding packages here are genuinely all-inclusive in a way some ballrooms are not: every package comes with a complimentary bridal suite, a five-hour premium open bar, and a complimentary one-night stay in a Honeymoon Suite with breakfast for the couple the following morning. On-site catering handles the meal with customizable menus and specialty fare stations, so a couple is not coordinating an outside caterer’s load-in around the hotel’s own kitchen schedule.
Guests staying over have a 24-hour fitness center with Precor cardio equipment and free weights, a seasonal outdoor pool, complimentary high-speed wireless internet throughout the property, and Cobalt Cafe and Lounge for a casual meal outside the wedding block. Parking is complimentary as well, which matters for a New Jersey hotel wedding where guests are often driving in from several different counties rather than walking or taking a single shuttle.
Location & Getting There
The hotel sits just off the Garden State Parkway at Exit 105, which keeps it easy to reach for guests coming from anywhere in central or northern New Jersey without threading through local side streets. Tinton Falls itself is a low-key Monmouth County town, so out-of-town guests are really booking a hotel-based wedding rather than a destination one, with the reception, the guest rooms, and the honeymoon suite all under one roof.
Ceremonies can be held indoors or outdoors, with the outdoor option set under a pergola arch on the hotel’s patio and an indoor backup built into the booking in case of rain. That outdoor-to-indoor flexibility carries through to sound: a DJ working the patio ceremony and then moving into the enclosed Sterling Ballroom for the reception is setting up twice in one day, open air for the vows and a carpeted, walled room for the dancing that follows.
