The Space

Sixty Vines opened in Charlotte on August 21, 2023, the first North Carolina location for the Texas-based wine-country concept, and it took over 8,000 square feet in the Vantage South End building, close to Bank of America Stadium and Spectrum Center. Communal tables face an open kitchen built around a wood-fired pizza oven, and high ceilings with exposed natural wood beams keep the room from feeling like a typical restaurant floor, even before a private event fills it with a wedding party.

A 2,600-square-foot patio extends the dining room outdoors, and beyond that the property includes a glass-enclosed greenhouse and several smaller private spaces, so a couple has real options beyond the main dining floor for different parts of the day. The wine program itself is a fixture of the room: 60 wines are poured on a sustainable tap system, and each keg holds 26 bottles and lasts through roughly 1,500 bottles’ worth of pours over its refillable lifetime.

Capacity & Layout

The full restaurant seats 350 across its indoor and outdoor spaces, which is enough for a large wedding, but the more useful numbers for most couples are the private spaces: the greenhouse holds 60 for a private event, the Napa Room seats 14, and the Cocktail Patio seats 30. That range means a couple can book a rehearsal dinner in the Napa Room, cocktail hour on the patio, or a full reception in the greenhouse without needing to rent out the whole restaurant.

The Napa Room comes with audio visual capabilities built in, useful for a smaller dinner with a toast or a slideshow, while the greenhouse, sized for 60, is the space most likely to work as a self-contained reception room since it is glass-enclosed and separate from the main dining floor rather than open to it.

Amenities

Validated parking is available at a nearby garage for two hours, which covers a rehearsal dinner or a shorter private event, though a longer wedding reception will want to plan for parking beyond that window given how the venue sits in a busy part of South End. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible throughout, including the patio and the private dining spaces.

The wood-fired pizza oven and open kitchen are visible from the main dining room, which gives an event here a working, active backdrop rather than a closed-off catering kitchen, and the 60 wines poured on tap plus a full bar covering cocktails, beer, and mocktails mean the bar program does not need much supplementing for a private event of any size.

Location & Getting There

Sixty Vines sits in the Vantage South End building in Charlotte’s South End neighborhood, close to Bank of America Stadium and Spectrum Center, which puts a couple’s event near downtown hotels and the rest of South End’s restaurant and bar scene rather than out on its own at a standalone venue.

For a DJ, the greenhouse is the room built for a self-contained private event: glass walls, its own footprint separate from the main dining floor, and enough enclosure that music stays with the party rather than carrying into the open kitchen and communal tables where other diners are seated.
