Silver Fork Vineyard and Winery sits on 32 acres at 1,200 feet elevation just off Interstate 40 in Morganton, North Carolina, with fantastic views of the South Mountains. The property contains five acres of grape vines and 27 acres of rolling hills and wooded trees. Two creeks, Silver Creek and White Fork Creek, intersect on the property and inspired the winery’s name. The property has historical ties to North Carolina’s 19th-century gold rush: the creeks were enlarged during the gold mining era to accommodate equipment, miners, and laborers, adding unexpected historical depth to the landscape.

The family-owned winery was started by Larry Kehoe, who planted the first vines in 1992 on roughly one acre. The current owners apprenticed under Kehoe and completed winery construction in September 2012 to welcome the first commercial harvest. The tasting room features an indoor service area and an open patio overlooking the vineyards and South Mountains. A wedding pavilion provides weather coverage for ceremonies and receptions regardless of season. Live music happens every Saturday, creating a lively community atmosphere.
