The Royal Banquet & Conference Center occupies the historic Royal Baking Company building on Hillsborough Street in Raleigh, originally built in 1941 with an expansion in 1946-1947. The bakery, which pioneered pre-sliced bread in Raleigh in the mid-1930s and operated its plant on this site starting December 7, 1941, closed its production operations years later.
