The Space
Valleybrook’s golf course dates to 1942, designed by architect Dave Beakley, and remains the oldest property in Ron Jaworski’s golf portfolio, which he purchased in 2000 after a noncompete clause from an earlier sale expired, making it the charter entry in his new company. The Grace Ballroom serves as the primary indoor space, built to hold a wedding reception and its dance floor within a property still run as a working golf club.
Outside, two distinct ceremony settings give couples a real choice: Magnolia Lane, framed by an outdoor pergola, and Vows at the V, a tree-lined landscape that reads as a more natural, wooded backdrop. A veranda with gas fireplaces sits between the ballroom and the grounds, giving cocktail hour a covered transition space between the ceremony site and the reception room regardless of which of the two outdoor locations a couple chooses.
Capacity & Layout
The Grace Ballroom holds up to 220 seated guests with its dance floor, sizing this as a mid-to-large wedding venue without pushing into banquet-hall territory. Valleybrook hosts one wedding per day, which means the ballroom, the ceremony grounds, and the vendor team are dedicated entirely to a single couple rather than split or rushed between back-to-back events on the same date.
Because the golf course itself plays 6,384 yards with water in play on nine of its eighteen holes, the property’s grounds are extensive, and that scale carries over into the event side: outdoor ceremony locations sit apart from the ballroom, giving a floor plan room to separate ceremony, cocktail hour on the veranda, and reception without guests backtracking through the same space twice.
Amenities
Wedding packages include a private bridal suite and a separate groom’s suite, a five-hour open bar, an on-site culinary team building chef-driven menus, a custom wedding cake, and a wedding concierge to help run the day, bundling most of the major vendor decisions into the venue itself. The Grace Ballroom also serves as automatic indoor backup for either outdoor ceremony site if weather turns.
Valleybrook is a member of the IBA Greater Philadelphia LGBTQA+ Chamber of Commerce and is 14 Stories Gay Wedding Institute Certified, a credential worth knowing about for couples prioritizing that kind of inclusive vendor relationship. The course has also been voted best public course in South Jersey by Courier Post readers across five separate years, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, and 2012, reflecting a property maintained to a standard beyond its event business.
Location & Getting There
Valleybrook sits in Blackwood, roughly 25 minutes from Philadelphia International Airport, a convenient distance for out-of-town wedding guests flying in for the weekend. The club has operated on this South Jersey site since 1942, long before Jaworski’s ownership, and that continuity as a working golf course gives the grounds a settled, mature landscape rather than one planted recently for event photography.
Guests arrive to a golf club rather than a dedicated banquet facility, so the property carries the openness of fairways and water hazards alongside its ceremony and reception spaces. Inside the Grace Ballroom, the enclosed room with its dance floor is built for indoor amplified sound, so a DJ setup here runs in a controlled, fully enclosed space regardless of what the two outdoor ceremony sites require in terms of a portable, weather-ready system.
