The Space
Six wooded acres along the Conestoga River in Lancaster hold a farmhouse dating to the 1800s, which Maureen and John Raezer bought in 2004 and spent two years restoring before opening Riverdale Manor in March 2006. The Raezers also own Thyme and Seasons Catering, which they opened in downtown Lancaster back in 1993, so the food program and the building were designed around each other rather than assembled separately later. The ballroom carries soaring white ceilings, three wrought iron chandeliers, recycled wood beams and flooring, and expansive windows that keep the river grounds visible from inside.
An Atrium sits just off the ballroom, set aside for dessert displays or a photo booth so that traffic stays clear of the dance floor. The farmhouse itself provides a bridal suite and a groom’s room, giving the wedding party a place to get ready without leaving the property. We have worked in this room, and the combination of hard flooring, high ceilings, and exposed beams is a familiar one: it carries sound cleanly and holds a crowd without feeling cavernous.
Capacity & Layout
The ballroom seats up to 200 guests, which is the number a couple should plan a floor plan against, whether that means round tables filling the room or a tighter layout that opens more space for dancing. Standard rental includes two hours of setup, five hours of event time, and one hour of cleanup, a window a DJ works within for load-in, sound check, and breakdown without competing with the caterer’s own timeline.
Ceremony options include the Sycamore Tree site directly on the Conestoga River, the most-used location on the property, along with the Hydrangea Garden and a mill foundation site built around a historic ruin that holds up to 75 guests. Couples who want a fully enclosed backup, or who are marrying outside peak season, can use the Pavilion or Garden Terrace instead, both of which convert quickly if weather turns.
Amenities
Catering runs exclusively through Thyme and Seasons, offering plated dinner, buffet, or stations, and the kitchen has thirty years of practice cooking for this specific room. Glassware, china, and flatware are included in the rental, with linens and napkins available to rent in a range of colors, which narrows what a couple needs to source elsewhere. Licensed bartenders staff the bar for up to five hours; couples supply the alcohol themselves.
Parking holds roughly 129 vehicles, enough for a guest list at or near the 200-person ceiling without overflow planning. The property has been recognized with the Knot’s Best of Weddings award 16 times and holds Hall of Fame status, and both pavilions are heated so an outdoor plan can hold up even when the forecast does not cooperate. The rental also includes an hour of rehearsal time ahead of the wedding.
Location & Getting There
Riverdale Manor sits minutes from downtown Lancaster, close enough for out-of-town guests to combine the wedding with a night or two in the city without a long drive back to a hotel. The property operates year-round, with peak season running from April through early November, when Saturday and holiday-weekend bookings carry the venue’s highest minimums for food, beverage, and labor.
Grounds are open before the ceremony for photography, so couples can use the six acres of gardens and riverfront before guests arrive rather than rushing portraits into the reception window. Inside the ballroom, the recycled wood beams and flooring plus the soaring ceiling give a DJ a room that handles bass and vocals evenly without the flat, dead sound of a lower drop-ceiling space.
