The Space
On Barnegat Bay in Beach Haven, Parker’s Garage & Oyster Saloon opened in May 2017 inside a building that was originally Ellis Parker’s marine repair shop in the early 1900s. Parker, born in 1865, came from a long line of Parkertown baymen and ran a restaurant, a houseboat rental operation, and the repair shop out of the same waterfront property, which the current owners have carried forward as an oyster saloon and event space.
The event space itself is a 2,500-square-foot covered, open-air deck, fully air-conditioned, with siding that lowers to protect against weather when needed, so a couple gets the feel of an outdoor waterfront wedding with the option to close it in if the forecast turns. It has been named Best All-Inclusive Wedding Venue by Here Comes the Guide, a detail that lines up with how much the standard package already includes.
Capacity & Layout
Seating and standing capacity both run 125 to 180 guests, which keeps this venue in the mid-size range, comfortable for a wedding that is not trying to fill a ballroom for several hundred people. Because the covered deck handles ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing all in one space, the layout on the day is less about moving between rooms and more about how that single 2,500-square-foot deck gets divided across the event.
The venue only books one reception a day, which means the staff’s full attention is on a single wedding rather than turning the room over between two events, and a couple’s timeline is not competing with another party’s setup or breakdown. The 5-hour reservation covers hors d’oeuvres, dinner, a bar selection, table settings with linens and place settings, and setup and cleanup, though dessert and cake are handled separately.
Amenities
Parker’s is BYOB: the restaurant does not sell wine or liquor itself but provides a cooler for guest beverages, which is worth knowing early since it shifts alcohol into the couple’s own budget and logistics rather than the venue’s bar tab. The venue is wheelchair accessible throughout, and its own boat slips are available, so guests arriving by water have a place to dock rather than needing to find parking on land.
A large, free public parking lot sits in front of the venue for guests coming by car, which matters at a shore town venue where parking can otherwise be scarce during wedding season. Peak booking months run May, June, September, and October, and the venue does not offer weddings from January through April or in July and August, so the calendar itself signals when this venue is built to run at its best.
Location & Getting There
Beach Haven sits on Long Beach Island, and Parker’s is a waterfront property directly on Barnegat Bay, which puts it in the same stretch of coastline that drew visitors here after the 1870s railway connected New York and Philadelphia to the port of Tuckerton. Guests coming from off the island should plan for shore traffic during peak season, and the free lot in front of the venue makes arrival straightforward once they get there.
We have DJed a wedding on that deck, and the covered, open-air structure changes how sound behaves compared to a fully enclosed room: with the sides open, sound has somewhere to go rather than bouncing back off walls, so a DJ needs to push a bit more volume than an indoor hall would need, and when the siding is lowered for weather, that same deck tightens up and holds sound much closer to an indoor room.
