The Space

Built in 2017 by owners Mike and Jennifer Andrews, the Paisley Barn was a hands-on project from the start: the couple built the venue themselves rather than hiring it out, and named it after their first daughter, Paisley. That history shows up in the details rather than in a plaque somewhere. The barn is filled with handmade touches and items passed down through the family, including wagon wheel chandeliers overhead and woodwork the Andrews family built by hand.

The ceremony site sits down the hill from the barn itself, with a pond as the backdrop rather than a built arch or arrangement the venue supplies. Guests walk from that outdoor setting up to the reception barn, which has the detailed woodwork the Andrews built into the structure. A bridal room inside the house gives the wedding party a private place to get ready before the ceremony starts.

Capacity & Layout

The Paisley Barn seats up to 200 guests for weddings and quinceaneras, which puts it toward the larger end of the barn venues in the area without losing the intimacy of a family-built space. The venue supplies 150 California Richwood import chairs, so a couple planning close to that capacity does not need to price out chair rentals separately, only account for how many additional seats a bigger guest count requires.

Layout follows the site’s natural slope: benches are set out for the ceremony down by the pond, and the reception moves uphill into the barn, where tables are provided for the seated meal. A bridal party suite and a separate groomsmen suite mean both sides of the wedding party can get ready on site at the same time without sharing a single room.

Amenities

If a couple brings their own alcohol, the venue provides a bartender as part of the rental rather than leaving that to be arranged separately, which simplifies bar planning considerably. The venue is also pet friendly, so a couple’s own dog can be part of the ceremony down by the pond if that matters to them, something not every barn venue in the area allows.

The handmade details throughout the barn, the wagon wheel chandeliers and the woodwork the Andrews built themselves, give the space a lived-in character that a couple can lean into rather than layering their own decor over a blank interior. Between the provided chairs, tables, benches, and bartender, the practical rental list is short, which leaves more of the planning energy for the parts of the day that are personal to the couple.

Location & Getting There

The Paisley Barn is in Benson, a small Johnston County town south of Raleigh, and the venue’s rural setting with its own pond is part of what draws couples out this way rather than to a hotel ballroom closer to the city. It reads as a family property because it is one, built and still run by the Andrews family rather than managed as a corporate event space.

We have set up here for a wedding, and the split site works in a DJ’s favor: ceremony sound stays light and outdoor down at the pond, while the reception barn’s enclosed wood interior and detailed woodwork give the dance floor a tighter, warmer sound once the party moves uphill and indoors for the night.
