The Space

Old Post 1940 is a federal post office built in 1940 with Treasury Department funds, and the building still carries that history in its bones rather than as a decorative theme. The Marble Lobby keeps its original terrazzo flooring with brass inlay and Tennessee pink marble wainscoting, and the current owners, who bought the building in 2019 as a family business, built their renovation around what was already there instead of stripping it out.

The building also houses a terra cotta bas relief titled "Cultivation of Corn," commissioned under Roosevelt’s New Deal art program through the Treasury Section of Fine Arts, a rare piece of public art for a couple to actually get married around. Downstairs, a basement labeled "bomb shelter" on the original blueprints has been turned into artist studio spaces, adding a layer of the building’s history that guests can wander through during a reception.

Capacity & Layout

The venue holds up to 200 guests across its spaces, with the Grand Hall serving as the reception room on its original hardwood flooring, set with custom built wooden tables and antique wooden chairs rather than standard rental furniture. That combination of real hardwood floors and period-correct furniture gives the Grand Hall a finished, lived-in look that a couple does not need to dress up much further.

Ceremonies are typically held in the outdoor wedding garden, which is furnished with church pews instead of rented chairs, a detail that fits the building’s overall approach of using real period pieces rather than generic rentals. A large deck adds another outdoor option beyond the garden itself, and the White Brick Room offers a smaller space for a rehearsal dinner or a more intimate gathering apart from the Grand Hall.

Amenities

A spacious bridal suite and a separate groom room give both sides of the wedding party a real place to get ready inside the building rather than off site. The venue is wheelchair accessible throughout, and on-site private lot parking is available, with free street parking as a backup option in downtown Easley for a larger guest list.

Old Post also runs as a working coffee shop, open Monday through Saturday from 8am to 4pm and closed Sundays, pouring organic coffee out of the same building a couple might later marry in. That daily use keeps the building active and maintained well beyond event weekends, and it means a couple touring the venue can also just stop in for coffee first to get a feel for the space.

Location & Getting There

The venue sits in downtown Easley, South Carolina, inside a building whose Treasury Department construction and 1940 build date already tell most of the location story: this is a Main Street landmark rather than a property set back from town. The 2025 Best of South Carolina honorable mention for coffeehouses is a further sign of how established the building has become locally since its 2019 renovation.

Between the Marble Lobby’s hard terrazzo and marble surfaces and the Grand Hall’s original hardwood flooring, both rooms are built from hard, reflective materials that carry sound clearly and require a DJ to manage levels carefully to avoid a harsh echo, while the outdoor wedding garden with its church pews gives an open-air ceremony space where sound needs to be aimed rather than left to bounce off the building.
