The Space
Ocean’s Edge sits on the 7th floor of the St. Regis Condominium Complex in North Topsail Beach, at what is positioned as the tallest point on Topsail Island, a location the venue was formerly known under a different name, Topsail Shrimp House, before it became a full event center. That elevation is the point: nearly every space in the venue looks out over the ocean rather than toward a parking lot or street.
The Overlook Room is the signature space, with panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows framing the ocean and a blue floor that plays off the water outside. Pender Hall and Onslow Hall serve as the two additional event spaces, giving the venue three distinct rooms to choose from depending on the size of the wedding, rather than one large hall that has to be divided.
Capacity & Layout
Capacity ranges from 30 up to 300 guests, a wide enough span that Ocean’s Edge can host an intimate dinner in one of the smaller halls or a full 300 person reception in the Overlook Room, without the couple needing to search for a different venue depending on guest count. That range also makes it workable for a rehearsal dinner in one room and the wedding itself in another, since Pender Hall or Onslow Hall can hold the smaller gathering the night before while the Overlook Room stays reserved for the wedding day itself.
A beach ceremony on the sand is available as well, so the ceremony can happen at ground level on the beach while the reception moves up to the 7th floor rooms afterward. Binoculars are set out on the tables, a detail that fits the ocean view directly outside the windows and gives guests something to do with that view during the reception.
Amenities
Catering is full service and flexible, with buffet, plated, cocktail, and family style formats all available, plus a full bar stocked with house wine, liquor, champagne, and local beers. The kitchen’s signature dishes, shrimp and grits, Bill’s she crab soup, and hand cut steaks, lean into the coastal North Carolina setting rather than a generic banquet menu.
The building is wheelchair accessible at the entrance, parking, restroom, and seating, and ample parking is available on site, which matters for a 7th floor venue where guests need a straightforward path in before reaching the elevator up to the event spaces above the ground floor.
Location & Getting There
Ocean’s Edge sits on North Topsail Beach, about 45 minutes from Wilmington and 30 minutes from Jacksonville, close enough for both cities to draw guests without either being a short local trip. Being the tallest point on Topsail Island, the venue is a landmark of sorts for anyone driving in along the coast, and that height is exactly what gives the Overlook Room its unobstructed view out over the water rather than a view partly blocked by neighboring buildings.
For a DJ, working in the Overlook Room means playing off floor-to-ceiling windows and a hard floor at height, which carries sound cleanly across the room, while a beach ceremony down at ground level needs separate, self contained equipment since there is no building to run power or hold speakers near the sand.
