The Space
Mini Acres Farm is a working blueberry operation that also hosts events, started in February 2022 on land less than 10 minutes from downtown Raleigh. Every wooden structure on the property, including the covered pavilion, was built from wood cut on the farm itself, so the venue reads as genuinely homegrown rather than a farm theme applied to a rental building. The 1,025 square foot pavilion anchors the property and comes wired with its own Bluetooth sound system, ceiling fans, and lighting.
Beyond the pavilion, the grounds include a firepit area for cocktail hour or overflow seating and a small stable where goats and donkeys are part of the everyday scenery, not a hired-in petting zoo. In June and July the farm opens six varieties of blueberries for guests to pick, which gives a couple with a summer date a built-in activity for a rehearsal gathering or a daytime portion of the day.
Capacity & Layout
The venue holds up to 100 guests, whether seated for dinner or standing through a reception, and that ceiling shapes the room from the start: this is a venue for an intimate to mid-size guest list, not a 200-person ballroom wedding. With 3,000 square feet of outdoor space in total, a couple has room to spread a ceremony area, cocktail hour by the firepit, and pavilion reception into distinct zones rather than stacking everything into one footprint.
The covered pavilion serves as the reception site, which means weather planning centers on that one structure while the ceremony and cocktail hour can move outdoors under open sky. Two indoor restrooms are on-site, so guests are not relying on portable units through the evening, and a bridal suite is available for the wedding party to get ready without leaving the property before the ceremony.
Amenities
The pavilion’s built-in Bluetooth sound system, ceiling fans, and overhead lighting mean the core reception infrastructure is already installed rather than something a couple has to rent and truck in separately. Parking is complimentary on the property, which keeps arrival simple for a guest list that is mostly driving in from the Raleigh area rather than flying in from out of state.
The stable with goats and donkeys and the June-July blueberry picking season are the kind of details that make this property distinct from a standard event barn: a couple planning a daytime element of their wedding, a rehearsal dinner, or a bridal shower has a genuine working farm to draw on rather than staged decor. The firepit area gives cocktail hour a gathering point separate from both the ceremony space and the pavilion.
Location & Getting There
Despite being a working farm, Mini Acres sits less than 10 minutes from downtown Raleigh, which keeps travel time short for guests staying in the city and for vendors making multiple trips between load-in and load-out. That proximity is unusual for a property with pick-your-own blueberries and farm animals on-site, and it is part of what makes the venue workable for a couple who wants a rural feel without asking guests to drive far out of town.
The covered pavilion is an open-air structure rather than a sealed room, so sound behaves differently than it would indoors: a DJ setting up under that roof is working with ceiling fans overhead, open sides to the property, and a sound system already built into the space, which calls for equipment and placement suited to an outdoor-adjacent room rather than a fully enclosed hall.
