The Nelson family has owned this Mebane property since 1754, making it the oldest continuously owned farm in Orange County, a fact that shapes the setting more than any single building on it. At the center of the 16.05-acre property is a 1,872-square-foot white farmhouse with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, furnished with antiques and chandeliers for entertaining rather than left as a plain farmhouse shell. A separate groom’s cottage with its own private deck, WiFi, and air conditioning gives the wedding party a second building to use, so getting ready does not have to happen in shared space with guests arriving.

Capacity & Layout

Hundreds of weddings have taken place here since the venue opened, so the grounds have been shaped over time around actually running an event rather than adapted after the fact. A feature pond sits on the property, and the farmhouse’s balcony porch looks out over open countryside, giving photographers a genuine rural backdrop rather than a landscaped approximation of one.

Because there is no dedicated rain spot on the property, a tent is required for weather protection on an outdoor date, a real line item to plan for and budget rather than an optional upgrade. That tradeoff comes with the territory of a working farm: peacocks and horses are visible on the grounds, animals that a couple planning photos or a ceremony outdoors should expect to share the property with.

Amenities

The farmhouse itself functions as a bridal suite, with overnight stays available there for the couple, and both the farmhouse and the separate cottage can be booked for overnight guests for an added fee, useful for a wedding weekend rather than a single-day event.
