The Space
Long before it carried the Maple Chase name, this Winston-Salem club operated for decades as Forsyth Country Club, taking on its current identity in a 2015 rebrand. The golf course underneath the reception spaces was laid out by Carolinas architect Ellis Maples and opened in 1954, and it has since hosted the 1964 Carolinas Open and the 1967 Carolinas PGA Championship. That competitive pedigree is part of what a couple is renting when they book the clubhouse here.
The clubhouse itself was recently renovated and now runs 12,000 square feet, with the Pinebrook Grille and Bar anchoring daily lunch, dinner, and bar service inside a dining room and patio that look straight across the 18th hole. A fireplace warms the dining room on cooler dates, and the patio puts guests eye level with the fairway, so the last group finishing a round in late afternoon is visible from wherever the reception is staged.
Capacity & Layout
The course itself carries a par of 72 across 18 holes, with a slope rating of 137 and a course rating of 73.6, numbers that matter mostly for the golfers in the wedding party who will want to know what they are walking into the next morning. For the reception, the number that matters is the clubhouse: 12,000 square feet of dining and event space split between the Pinebrook Grille and Bar’s interior rooms and its patio.
Because the club is a working golf course as well as an event venue, layout tends to follow what the property was built around: rooms that face the 18th hole and a patio that extends the indoor footprint outdoors when weather allows. Recent renovations added bentgrass greens, new and restored bunkers, and a two-row irrigation system to the course, work that keeps the view from the dining room and patio sharp for anyone booking a spring or fall date.
Amenities
Guests staying local or making a weekend of it will find more on the property than the reception room: The Chase Pool and Cabana runs seasonally from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, and there is a state-of-the-art fitness center along with pickleball courts. None of that touches the wedding day directly, but it gives out-of-town guests something to do if the club becomes the anchor for a whole weekend rather than a single evening.
On the food and bar side, the Pinebrook Grille and Bar covers lunch, dinner, and bar service daily, which means the same kitchen and staff that run the club day to day are the ones handling the reception. Walking access is available on the course, and motorized carts are on hand too, useful if a couple wants engagement or bridal party photos taken out on the fairways before members start their rounds.
Location & Getting There
We have worked a wedding at Maple Chase, so the club’s rhythms are ones we know before we plug in: where the reception rooms sit relative to the patio, how the dining room fills, and where a DJ setup fits comfortably against the Pinebrook Grille and Bar’s layout. It is a private club, which for planning purposes means the space is set aside for the event rather than shared with unrelated diners that evening.
The property’s roots go back to a golf course that opened in 1954, with a clubhouse renovated more recently to modern event standards. That combination, an established course wrapped around a newly finished interior, plays out in the room’s sound too: the dining room’s more finished surfaces and windows facing the patio hold a DJ setup and dance floor without the boom of a bare banquet hall, while the patio option opens the same music into open air for an outdoor portion of the night.
