The Space

Louisburg Lodge No. 2256 belongs to the Loyal Order of Moose, a fraternal organization founded in 1888 by Dr. John Henry Wilson in Louisville, Kentucky. The local chapter has been part of Louisburg for decades and was granted tax-exempt status by the IRS in September 1972. It is first and foremost a members’ hall, and that shapes the room: plain and functional, built for the lodge’s own dinners and meetings long before it hosted its first wedding.

We have DJed a reception here, and the hall reads exactly as you would expect from a fraternal lodge: built for the members’ own dinners, dances, and meetings rather than styled for weddings. That is not a knock, it is the trade some couples make deliberately, choosing a lower rental cost and a hall with real local history over a venue built strictly for photographs.

Capacity & Layout

The lodge does not publish a fixed guest count, and the hall’s flat, open floor plan means capacity comes down to how you arrange rentals rather than any built-in limit. Because the room is an open rectangle rather than a shaped ballroom, your DJ setup, dance floor, and head table placement are yours to decide, which gives a planner real flexibility but also means every layout detail gets worked out from scratch rather than following a set plan.

Outside the hall, Moose Lodge Park adds a baseball and softball diamond, which is not a wedding amenity in the usual sense but does mean there is genuine outdoor space on the property beyond a parking lot. Couples who want a lawn game setup during cocktail hour, or who just want kids and guests to have room to spread out between the ceremony and the reception, have that option here in a way most rented banquet halls cannot offer.

Amenities

The grounds include restrooms as part of Moose Lodge Park, in addition to whatever facilities the hall itself provides, so guests are not relying on a single indoor restroom for the whole event. The park’s ball diamond means the property has more usable outdoor acreage than a typical rented banquet room, useful if any part of your day, cocktail hour, kids’ activities, casual mingling, is meant to happen outside rather than confined entirely indoors.

Location & Getting There

The lodge sits off Highway 56 East, about three miles from where it meets US 401 in Louisburg, a straightforward rural stretch of road that most guests coming from town or from Raleigh will find easy to follow without much traffic to plan around. It is not a destination venue tucked down a long gravel drive, it is a known local building on a numbered highway.

Doors are open from 8 in the morning until midnight, which gives a wedding day a long runway for setup earlier in the day and a late finish at night without staff watching the clock. For a DJ, that flat open hall with hard walls and no elaborate architecture is straightforward to work with: sound carries evenly across a plain rectangular room, and running clean lines to a single dance floor area is simpler than fighting a room full of pillars or uneven ceiling heights.
