The Space
Liberty House sits inside Liberty State Park on a site its founders discovered almost by accident: Frank Cretella spotted an old rusted steel foundation during an Andrea Bocelli concert in the park in the summer of 2000, negotiated a lease, and opened the restaurant with his wife Jeanne in August 2001. What couples tour today is a 14,000-square-foot building surrounded by water on three sides, with the Grand Ballroom’s 35-foot ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows framing the Manhattan skyline directly.
The property holds two independent event buildings rather than one hall subdivided by a partition wall: the Grand Ballroom on the second floor and the Liberty Room on the first, each with its own entrance, cocktail room, and ceremony space. That separation means two weddings can run on the same property without overlapping, and it gives a couple booking either room a building that feels dedicated to their event rather than one of several spaces sharing a lobby.
Capacity & Layout
The Grand Ballroom holds up to 325 seated guests, the Liberty Room up to 150, and smaller spaces round out the property: the Gallery for around 32, the Patio for 65 standing, and Nathan’s Patio, the venue’s dedicated after-party space, for up to 75. That range lets a couple pick a room sized to their actual guest count rather than renting a ballroom built for 300 to host 100 people in a space that reads half-empty.
The Liberty Room’s moveable glass walls open directly onto a private patio with fire pits and gardens, so a couple can flex the room’s footprint between an indoor reception and an outdoor cocktail hour depending on weather and season, without renting a separate outdoor space. The Grand Ballroom, by contrast, is built for a larger seated dinner and dance floor under its 35-foot ceiling, with its own outdoor patio and ceremony garden attached.

Catering runs through the on-site team behind Maddy Rose, led by Chef Nick Paller and sourcing ingredients from the property’s own Dancing Goat Farm and butcher shop, so the food program is not outsourced to a third party. The wine list carries a Wine Spectator award, with sommelier-curated selections and an optional tableside wine cart, and the bar package includes two custom cocktails designed with a mixologist plus a prosecco toast.
A dedicated Wedding Nook gives the wedding party private space for finishing touches and photos on the day of the event, and complimentary valet parking is included for all guests, which matters at a waterfront property where street parking is not realistic.
