The Space

Laurel Falls started as a private estate in the 1920s and served as the Samuels family home for more than thirty years before it became a wedding venue, and it is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The 18-acre property includes a private nature trail and secluded waterfalls, about 20 minutes from downtown Asheville in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the restoration work blended the estate’s historic character with modern comfort rather than replacing it outright.

Four historic cabins remain on the grounds: The Lodge, The Carriage House, The Chestnut Cabin, and The Waterfall Cabin, each fully equipped with a kitchen that a caterer can actually use. A rustic barn strung with cafe lighting handles larger gatherings, and a dedicated Ceremony Rock and Pavilion gives the vows their own fixed spot on the property, away from the cabins and the barn.

Capacity & Layout

The venue caps out at 75 guests total, which makes Laurel Falls a venue for an intimate wedding rather than a large one, and overnight lodging across the four cabins holds up to 20 of those guests on site. Ceremony sites include the Ceremony Rock and Pavilion along with other outdoor spots scattered across the 18 acres, so a couple touring the grounds usually finds a specific corner that feels right rather than defaulting to the one obvious lawn.

Reception space runs across the Rustic Barn, the Little Pisgah grassy lawn site, and the Lodge Porch, so a couple can move cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing between different outdoor and covered spots instead of keeping the whole evening in one room. The Italian Grotto adds a fourth, smaller setting for cocktail hour or portraits, giving the day four distinct backdrops without a couple having to bring in outside decor to create that variety.

Amenities

Because each of the four cabins has a working kitchen, catering here is flexible: a couple can bring in food trucks or a BYO catering setup rather than being locked into one in-house kitchen, and the cabins double as prep space on the wedding day itself. A hot tub with a waterfall overlook and a fire pit round out the property for a weekend stay, amenities that read more like a private retreat than a standard wedding venue.

Wedding packages run April through mid-November, so a couple working outside that window should ask directly what is available. The Lodge provides space for the wedding party to prepare before the ceremony, and we have worked a wedding on this property, so we know how the grounds move from the Ceremony Rock down to the Rustic Barn for the reception, and how the light changes as evening comes on.

The property sits in Fairview, about 12 miles and roughly 20 minutes from downtown Asheville, close enough for city guests to make the drive without it eating the whole day, while still feeling like a private mountain retreat once you are on the 18 acres, with the private nature trail and secluded waterfalls giving guests somewhere to walk between the ceremony and the reception.

The Rustic Barn’s cafe lighting and open interior sit over a harder floor than the surrounding cabins, so it is the room built to carry a dance floor, and we set up there with the barn’s own structure in mind, letting the open rafters give the sound room without losing clarity for toasts and first dances, while the four surrounding cabins stay quiet enough for anyone who steps away from the dance floor.
