The Space

Joseph Ambler Inn comprises five historic buildings on 12 acres of manicured gardens and rolling meadows near the border of Bucks and Montgomery Counties. The original property was owned by Joseph Ambler, a wheelwright born in 1691 to a Philadelphia Quaker family, who built a two-room, two-story fieldstone farmhouse in 1734. The Stone Bank Barn dates to 1820 and was renovated in 1987 with a restaurant, bar, small banquet room, and 13 guest rooms. The Thomas Wilson House, built in the 1850s and inhabited by six generations of Irish settlers, was moved to the property in 1997 to save it from demolition. The John Roberts House, built in 1794, was relocated 2 miles to the property in 2003 in a 310-ton move taking 16 hours.

The restaurant occupies the renovated 1820 Stone Bank Barn with exposed stone walls, random-width hardwood floors, and serves contemporary American cuisine. The Farmhouse dates to 1734 and houses 9 guestrooms. The Corybeck, originally a tenant farmer’s cottage built in 1929, comprises 5 studio guestrooms. Together, the properties create a historic village-like campus with 52 guest rooms spread across five buildings.

Capacity & Layout

The venue accommodates up to 200 guests in the Bonnymeade and Wheelwright Banquet Rooms. The Fieldstone Room seats up to 100. The restaurant accommodates 125, and various smaller rooms accommodate 10 to 100 guests depending on configuration. Multiple event spaces let you split ceremonies, cocktails, and receptions across different buildings or conduct your entire celebration in a single ballroom.

Outdoor ceremony sites include the ceremony lawn, pavilion with canopy, or fireside gatherings in the Farmhouse or John Roberts House for up to 40 guests. The 12-acre grounds provide gardens and outdoor dining terraces, giving you layered options for movement and sightlines across the property.
