The Space
For not quite two years, Raleigh’s Iron Works district had a venue that combined a full restaurant with duckpin bowling, karaoke rooms, shuffleboard, darts, foosball, and board games under one roof. Jaguar Bolera opened in May 2024 as an eatertainment concept developed by Robert Thompson, the founder of Punch Bowl Social, with a food program built by Top Chef alumnus Manny Barella around Mexican-Southern fusion cooking, elevated tacos, and smoked meats.
The space itself ran to roughly 23,000 square feet spread across two floors, big enough to hold a full bar, multiple game areas, and dining all at once. Drinks came from a self-serve, pay-by-the-ounce tap wall rather than a traditional bar line, a detail that shaped how a crowd moved through the room, spreading people out across the space instead of clustering them at one counter all night.
Capacity & Layout
At full capacity the venue could hold up to 800 guests, a scale well beyond most venues on this list and suited to a large, high-energy private event rather than a seated formal dinner. Two floors of games and dining gave an event room to spread across multiple activities at once, bowling on one level, karaoke or dancing on another, rather than everyone funneled through a single hall for the whole night.
That layout worked especially well for a reception built around entertainment rather than a formal seated meal, guests could move between the bowling lanes, the shuffleboard courts, and the dance floor over the course of an evening. It is worth noting this in the past tense: Jaguar Bolera closed permanently in March 2026, so the space described here is no longer operating as a venue.
Amenities
While it was open, the venue’s private events program covered up to 800 guests with the same duckpin bowling, karaoke rooms, shuffleboard, darts, foosball, and board games available to the general public, plus the tap wall bar and the full Mexican-Southern fusion menu for catering. The building operated seven days a week with late hours on Friday and Saturday, running past midnight on both nights.
None of those amenities are bookable any longer. A permanently closed sign went up on the door in March 2026, and the space is no longer available for weddings, receptions, or private events of any kind. We include the history here because we worked the room during its run, not as a current recommendation for anyone planning a wedding.
Location & Getting There
Jaguar Bolera operated inside Raleigh’s Iron Works complex, a redeveloped stretch of the city that had drawn a mix of dining and entertainment concepts before the venue’s closure. Its two-story footprint and central location made it an easy stop for a Raleigh crowd during the roughly two years it was open for business.
Inside, the mix of hard bowling lanes, tiled floors, and open two-story ceilings gave the space a lively, echoing sound that suited a DJ working a dance floor between game areas, loud and energetic rather than intimate, which fit the eatertainment concept the venue was originally built around, back before it shut its doors for good in the spring of 2026.
