The Space
ICONA Diamond Beach traces back to the Pier 6600 Hotel, built in 1971, before developer Achristavest bought the property and rebuilt it from the ground up starting in 2013, reopening for its first full season in May 2014. The property sits directly on 425 feet of private, pure white sand, and interior designer Blanche Garcia, known from Hotel Impossible, was brought in to design the rebuilt resort, which is part of why the finished look reads more boutique than typical beach hotel.
The resort is closed each year between October 12 and April 16, so it operates as a warm-weather property rather than a year-round one, which is worth knowing when picking a date. Coastal Blue, the beachfront restaurant on site, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a seafood focus, and its presence means a couple can host a rehearsal dinner or a farewell brunch without leaving the resort at all during the weekend.
Capacity & Layout
Ceremonies here happen barefoot on the private beach itself, and receptions move into a grand tent set up on the sand or into the resort’s indoor event spaces, giving couples a choice between an open-air feel and a more sheltered one depending on the season and the forecast. The resort also carries 1,800 square feet of conference and event space across two meeting rooms for smaller gatherings tied to the wedding weekend, like a welcome cocktail hour or a rehearsal.
With 123 condo-style suites and studios, 120 suites and 3 studios, the wedding party and out-of-town guests can book directly on property, and each unit’s kitchenette makes an extended-family stay easier to manage than a standard hotel room would. Free on-site parking includes one space per suite, with additional off-site parking available for larger gatherings, so guest logistics rarely become the bottleneck for a beach wedding held here.
Amenities
ICONA Beach Bar and a poolside bar both offer live entertainment as part of the resort’s regular programming, which sets a built-in tone for cocktail hour even before a couple adds their own music. A seasonal outdoor heated pool, lifeguards on duty from late May to early September, and a state-of-the-art fitness center round out the property’s day-to-day amenities for guests staying through the wedding weekend.
The beach itself is raked daily and comes with beach showers and fire pits, small details that matter for a beach ceremony since they mean the sand looks clean for photos and guests have somewhere to rinse off after. An ADA suite with a roll-in shower is available, and the resort has been ranked the number two best resort in New Jersey by U.S. News and World Report, a mark of a well-run operation rather than a boutique gimmick.
Location & Getting There
The resort sits in Wildwood Crest with Cape May just minutes away, giving guests an easy day trip if they arrive early or stay past the wedding weekend. Atlantic City International Airport is about 37 miles out, a manageable drive for flying guests, and the beach town setting means most visitors will be spending time outdoors between events rather than shuttling between indoor venues.
We have set up for a reception under the grand tent on the beach, and that kind of space calls for different handling than an indoor ballroom: open air disperses sound quickly, ocean breeze and wave noise compete with the music, and equipment needs to be positioned and weighted for an outdoor sand surface, so we plan the sound coverage for the tent’s open sides rather than assuming four walls will hold it in.
