The Space
At the gateway to Ship Bottom, Hotel LBI is built to look like it has stood on Long Beach Island for a century, though the property itself only opened in May 2019, on the site of a much older run of buildings, first the Vacation Inn, then the Quarterdeck Inn, and later a banquet hall called The Stateroom, all demolished to make way for the current property. The design deliberately echoes the grand hotels of Long Beach Island’s early 1900s resort era, with interior touches that draw on local maritime history and art from the LBI Marine Time Museum rather than a generic beach-town look.
The result sits three blocks from the beach, with the scale and finish of a full-service resort rather than a boutique inn. A couple touring the property is seeing a building built new in 2019 but dressed to feel like it has been part of the island for a century, which matters for a wedding photo that is supposed to look timeless rather than dated to a specific decade.
Capacity & Layout
The Conservatory ballroom is the main event space, 3,700 square feet with vaulted ceilings, exposed wooden beams, chandeliers, skylights, and a gas fireplace, seating up to 200 guests and looking out over Barnegat Bay through panoramic windows. Event space overall flexes from 30 to 200 guests with flexible meeting room configurations, so an intimate wedding of 30 guests gets a layout scaled to fit rather than a corner of a room built for ten times that many.
Ceremonies typically happen on the rooftop, with bay views and an outdoor arbor, with the Conservatory ballroom serving as the indoor backup, so a couple can plan for an open-air ceremony while knowing exactly where the day moves if the weather does not cooperate. The rooftop bar itself, with handcrafted cocktails, panoramic bay views, and seasonal outdoor seating, doubles as a natural spot for cocktail hour before or after that ceremony.
Amenities
All 102 suites include a full kitchen, with a microwave, dishwasher, cooktop, full-size refrigerator, stocked dishes and flatware, and a Keurig, useful for a wedding party staying multiple nights rather than checking in for one. Four bars, Salt Kitchen & Bar, the Rooftop Bar, the Tide Pool Bar & Grille, and the Living Room Lobby Bar, spread cocktail hour and after-party drinks across different parts of the property instead of funneling everyone into one line.
An indoor tropical pool with a retractable roof and hot tub spa, a fitness center, and the Lighthouse Beauty and Wellness Center with HydraFacial treatments round out the property, and complimentary valet parking is available in season with self-parking off season, so a couple’s out-of-town guests have somewhere to relax the day before and the day after the wedding itself.
Location & Getting There
Guests are three blocks from the beach, with a seasonal complimentary shuttle running them down, plus two complimentary beach passes per room, beach gear rentals, and bicycle rentals included, so the wedding weekend can spill into actual beach time without anyone needing a car.
We have worked a reception in the Conservatory, and the vaulted ceilings and exposed wooden beams give a DJ real height to work with, while the glass garage doors on the rooftop and veranda areas mean sound and setup can move between the indoor ballroom and the open-air rooftop depending on how the couple splits ceremony and dancing.
