The Space
Built in 1900 to store peanuts, this 10,000 square foot building in downtown Conway later spent decades warehousing tobacco for 13 different companies before a 2021 renovation turned it into the Historic Peanut Warehouse event venue. That double industrial history, peanuts, then tobacco, means the building carries real working history rather than a manufactured old-timey look, and the renovation kept the original structure rather than replacing it.
One detail from that history survives as a physical feature: a porch dedicated to the late Senator Strom Thurmond, built into the building itself. The venue sits near 2nd Avenue and Laurel Street, close to the Conway Riverwalk, putting it in the middle of downtown rather than on the edge of town, which shapes both parking and the walk guests take between the venue and the riverfront.
Capacity & Layout
The main event space runs 7,400 square feet, with room for up to 350 guests standing or 299 seated, capacity that scales from a mid-size reception up to a genuinely large one without the venue running out of room. That range gives a couple real flexibility on guest list size without needing to change venues, and it is large enough to hold a dance floor, full seating, and a bar without feeling cramped.
The building is climate-controlled throughout, which matters more in a converted warehouse than in a purpose-built hall, since older industrial buildings can run hot or cold unevenly without real HVAC work. A bridal suite is part of the layout, giving the bridal party a dedicated space separate from the main event floor, and the bathrooms were updated as part of the 2021 renovation rather than left as they were.
Amenities
An on-site kitchen supports catering directly out of the building rather than requiring a caterer to bring in a mobile setup, and outside vendors are allowed as long as they comply with the venue’s management guidelines, giving a couple room to bring in their own photographer, florist, or caterer rather than working from a required list. Adequate on-site parking is available for a downtown property.
The updated, spacious restrooms and climate control are the kind of practical upgrades that do not show up in photographs but matter on the actual wedding day, particularly for a guest list near the venue’s upper capacity of 350, where restroom flow and comfortable indoor temperature become real logistics rather than nice-to-haves.
Location & Getting There
Downtown Conway, near 2nd Avenue and Laurel Street, puts the venue within walking distance of the Riverwalk, giving guests somewhere to walk between the ceremony and reception, or during a break in the evening, without leaving the immediate area. The setting works for couples who want a downtown, walkable feel rather than a rural or standalone property reached only by car.
We have worked a wedding in this room, and the warehouse structure, with its original industrial framing exposed, behaves like a large indoor hall: hard surfaces and a big open floor plate mean sound carries easily across the room, so a DJ manages levels for a genuinely large space rather than a small, sound-absorbing room, keeping the mix controlled so it reaches the back of a crowd near capacity without overloading tables close to the speakers.
