The Space

Beth and David Hollister bought the 200 acres that became HighRock Farm in 2014, and the couple runs it two ways at once: a working farm raising beef cattle and sheep, and an event property built around an elegant main house redesigned specifically for weddings. The Hollisters came to the Triangle from Buffalo nearly thirty years ago, and their earlier work opening Bull City Burger and Brewery, Wine Authorities, and Pompieri Pizza in Durham shaped how the farm’s food and hospitality side runs today.

The main house sits in the middle of 3,500 square feet of total meeting room, redesigned again in 2022, with a separate buffet room set apart from the reception hall and a green room where entertainers can set up out of guest sightlines. Covered patios connect the indoor space to rolling pastures outside, so the transition from cocktail hour to ceremony does not require anyone to walk far, and the working farm keeps its grazing fields visible in every direction.

Capacity & Layout

HighRock books up to 200 guests seated indoors in the main house, with room for 500 or more when a couple moves the reception outdoors under the covered patios and across the pastures. That split matters for planning: a smaller, more formal seated dinner fits comfortably inside, while a larger guest list pushes naturally toward the open-air layout the farm was built for, with the patios acting as covered overflow rather than a separate room.

Ceremonies typically happen out on the rolling pastures, with the reception moving back toward the main house and its covered patios for dinner and dancing. Two bathrooms and separate getting-ready spaces for bridal parties mean the day’s early hours, hair, makeup, dressing, can happen on-site without competing with vendor load-in, which keeps the timeline realistic for a property this size and this spread out.
