The Space
Goels Plaza opened for business on January 1, 2004, incorporated a few years earlier in February 2001, and has grown into the largest privately owned banquet facility in North Carolina. The property was deliberately placed in a business area near Raleigh-Durham International Airport rather than a busy retail corridor, chosen specifically for the privacy and seclusion that setting gives a wedding or private event.
Five ballrooms, the Grand, Magnolia, Carnation, Iris and Jasmine, connect through a shared lounge area and together account for more than 20,000 square feet of event space. A 2015 remodel added ballroom space and upgraded the office areas, and a 2016 addition brought a new awning to the front and side entrances, so the property has kept updating rather than sitting static since it opened.
Capacity & Layout
The Grand Ballroom alone runs more than 8,400 square feet with ceilings between 13 and 15 feet, the Magnolia Ballroom is over 4,500 square feet under a 13-foot ceiling, and the Carnation Ballroom covers more than 3,600 square feet at 12 feet high. That range lets a couple pick a room scaled to their guest count instead of renting the largest space on the property by default.
Across the full facility, seated capacity reaches 700 and cocktail-style capacity climbs to 1,000, figures that only make sense once you see how five separate ballrooms combine. Round tables measure 60 inches across and seat up to 10 people each, a standard planners can use to work backward from a guest list to an exact table count for any of the five rooms.
Amenities
Catering can be handled on site or brought in from outside, with a $2.50 per person overhead fee for outside caterers, and bar service is available with bartenders along with house liquor and beer options. About 200 parking spaces are shared across all rooms and occupants, which is worth noting if more than one ballroom is booked for separate events the same day.
Room setup during business hours runs $125 per room per hour, and rental periods are structured as 6 continuous hours from check-in to check-out, details that matter for a couple planning vendor load-in and load-out around a fixed clock. The venue has also picked up recognition over the years, rated among the top 10 banquet facilities in Eastern Carolina since 2005 and named a top 5 Triangle-area facility by Triangle Business Journal in 2009.
Location & Getting There
Goels Plaza sits roughly 5 to 10 minutes from Raleigh-Durham International Airport in Morrisville, convenient for out-of-town guests flying in, and the surrounding business-area setting was chosen on purpose to keep events private rather than exposed to street-level foot traffic. Office hours for tours and planning meetings run Monday through Friday, 9am to 4pm, by appointment.
We have worked events at Goels Plaza, and every ballroom here is an enclosed indoor room with a hard ceiling and defined walls, which holds sound tightly and predictably for a DJ setup, unlike an outdoor or tented space. One fixed detail to plan around: all events must wrap and the facility locked by midnight, so the night’s music has a hard stop built into the venue’s own rules.
