The Space
The Gardens at Applecross opened in spring 2023 as a new wedding venue within Applecross Country Club, a private golf community set on over 700 acres in East Brandywine Township. The grounds include beautifully designed botanical gardens that frame the event spaces and set the tone for the day. The venue features two distinct outdoor ceremony locations: one with a pergola surrounded by river birches and crepe myrtles overlooking the golf course, and a waterfall garden area that was planned to come online in spring 2026.
Windows on the Garden is the venue’s main ballroom, featuring white draping, handmade truss beams, and oversized windows that frame views of the surrounding gardens. The space feels contemporary yet grounded by its connection to the landscape outside. An indoor ceremony option exists for inclement weather, eliminating the stress of last-minute pivots during storms.
Capacity & Layout
The venue accommodates up to 350 guests for receptions, with a 125-guest minimum (or smaller groups with a minimum spend starting at $12,000). One wedding is hosted per day, meaning your wedding party has access to the entire property, including all suites and spaces exclusively. This exclusive arrangement eliminates the feeling of sharing a venue with another event happening simultaneously.
The ballroom provides the main reception space with the dance floor and specialty lighting built in. Separate indoor and outdoor cocktail reception areas with bars allow guests to flow freely before sitting for dinner. A covered deck with fire pits adjacent to the ballroom extends the space into the evening, useful for receptions that run long or cool down after sunset.
Amenities
Private bridal and groom suites are reserved exclusively for your wedding party, with amenities designed for comfort throughout the day. In-house catering by Willow & Vine is included in the package, with Sage Catering available as an exclusive partner for those seeking elevated, customized menus. The all-inclusive package provides a five-hour open bar, event coordination, full service and staffing, and tables and linens, streamlining the logistics considerably.
Complimentary accessible self-parking is provided for all guests. The Spa at Applecross is located on the property if guests want to extend their weekend or add a pre-wedding pampering element. Accessibility throughout the grounds is ensured, making the venue comfortable for guests with mobility considerations.
Location & Getting There
Downingtown sits in Chester County in the heart of Pennsylvania’s Brandywine Valley, about 30 miles from Philadelphia International Airport and less than 30 minutes from the King of Prussia area. The drive from Philadelphia is straightforward via the major arteries through suburban Chester County. The setting on a Jack Nicklaus Design golf course (opened in 2010 and recognized as one of the best new courses that year) places you in a manicured landscape that feels like a retreat despite suburban proximity.
The ballroom’s white draping and handmade truss details create natural sound containment, and the oversized windows and generous ceiling height mean a DJ setup can deliver clear sound throughout the main space without requiring excessive speaker coverage; the outdoor adjacent deck will require speaker extension for dancing under the fire pits, but the space’s layout makes that straightforward.
