The Space
Forest Creek’s clubhouse reads like a Southern manor rather than a typical golf clubhouse, built with a library, private dining quarters, a wine cellar, a ballroom, and a grille room that opens onto outdoor seating and fire pits. The whole property was carved out of a roughly 3,000-acre estate the Meyer family began assembling in 1942, and that scale still shows in how much room the clubhouse has to work with.
The ballroom sits alongside the club’s other formal spaces, so a wedding reception here is part of a building that also holds a wine cellar and a library, not a standalone banquet hall. Outside, the grille room’s fire pits and the golf courses themselves, framed by longleaf pines native to the Sandhills, give a couple both an elegant interior and open grounds for photos.
Capacity & Layout
The property centers on two Tom Fazio-designed 18-hole championship courses: the South Course, which opened in 1996 at 7,067 yards, and the North Course, which opened in 2005 at 7,209 yards. Golf Digest named the South Course the third-best new residential course in the country when it opened, and nominated the North Course best new private course, which sets the level of grounds a wedding party is walking through.
Inside the clubhouse, the ballroom handles the reception itself while the library, private dining quarters, and grille room give a couple additional rooms to spread cocktail hour, a rehearsal dinner, or an after-party across, rather than compressing everything into one space. Eleven suites sit above the clubhouse as well, which some wedding parties use for out-of-town family staying on site, keeping the whole weekend inside one gated property.
Amenities
Catering runs through the clubhouse’s own kitchens, with formal dining, a casual restaurant, and fine dining options all available, plus a fully-stocked bar. The men’s locker room, completed in 2002 with reclaimed barn timbers and 22-foot ceilings, was ranked 13th on Golf Digest’s list of America’s 50 best locker rooms, which gives some wedding parties an unusual but well-regarded space for a groom’s prep before the ceremony.
Beyond the golf itself, the grounds include tennis courts, a junior Olympic-sized pool, a fitness center, and pickleball facilities, so a multi-day wedding weekend has plenty to fill the hours around the ceremony. The pro shop, built from two log cabins brought in from the hills of Tennessee, adds one more distinctive corner of the property worth walking guests past on the way in.
Location & Getting There
Forest Creek sits behind a two-mile entrance road that passes a log cabin gatehouse and stands of longleaf pine, so arriving on property is already part of the experience before guests reach the clubhouse. The Village of Pinehurst is about five minutes away, and Moore County Airport sits roughly a mile from the club, which keeps travel simple for family flying in for a wedding weekend.
As a private, gated community, the club’s 24-hour security also means an event here runs on a quieter, more controlled property than a public venue. Inside the ballroom, high ceilings and a mix of stone and wood surfaces common to the clubhouse’s manor-style construction call for a DJ setup that leans on clean, well-placed speakers rather than pushing volume into a room built for elegance, not amplification.
