The Space

Fontana Village Resort & Marina is a year-round mountain destination set at the gateway to Great Smoky Mountains National Park in the Nantahala National Forest. The property has operated since 1942 and is the largest resort in Graham County. The main structures include a lodge with 214 guest rooms, over 100 cabins ranging from 1 to 4 bedrooms, a campground with RV and tent camping, a full-service marina on Fontana Lake, and extensive event and meeting facilities spanning 17,000 square feet. Two full-service restaurants (Hazel’s and Quill’s Canteen) plus an ice cream parlor handle food service. The Bear’s Den Lounge and other bars provide beverage service throughout the property.

The Stone Creek Pool and Lazy River add recreation and gathering space. Eighteen-hole disc golf, mini golf, tennis and basketball courts, an arcade, and fitness center round out the property. Twenty miles of hiking and biking trails crisscross the grounds. The resort is built on 100+ acres with RV hookup sites along the Little Tennessee River, creating a self-contained destination where multiple-day celebrations can unfold without guests needing to leave the property.

Event space totals 17,000 square feet split across a conference center and 8 dedicated meeting rooms, providing flexibility for events ranging from intimate to large-scale. The lodge contains 214 rooms, sufficient for substantial guest groups to stay on site. Cabins accommodate families or groups preferring private space. The campground adds further options for budget-conscious guests or those seeking the camping experience. Pets are allowed in cabins for a $150 non-refundable fee; pets are not permitted in lodge rooms. Check-in is 4pm, check-out is noon. Ample free parking is provided.

The layout is sprawling but organized: guests can stay in one area and events occur in another, or the property can host entirely on-site ceremonies and receptions. Knoxville McGhee Tyson Airport is 27.5 miles away, making it accessible from the East Tennessee region. Asheville Regional Airport is 72.1 miles away, serving as an alternative if flying into the mountains from other regions. The drive from Knoxville runs about 45 minutes. The setting is mountain wilderness maintained as a resort, not wilderness camping: paved roads, constructed buildings, professional services, yet immersed in the national forest landscape.
