The Space
In a renovated five-story building on Hamilton Street, Fegley’s Allentown Brew Works opened in the summer of 2007, part of a push to bring life back to downtown Allentown, the same approach the Fegley family had already used at their original Bethlehem Brew Works, founded in 1998. Brothers Jeff and Rich Fegley run both locations, brewing more than a dozen in-house craft beers that are distributed across Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
The building totals more than 51,000 square feet across five floors, and the brewery keeps its industrial bones on display rather than covering them over: exposed brick, original wood floors, and a working brewhouse that supplies the taps upstairs and down. The whole operation runs on 100 percent renewable energy, a detail that says as much about how the building was renovated as about what happens inside it.
Capacity & Layout
The building holds 400 seats across its five floors, with four private rooms available for ceremonies, receptions and other events, so a couple can pick a room sized to the guest list rather than renting the whole building. High Gravity, on one floor, keeps the exposed brick and original wood floors front and center, giving a smaller wedding a warmer, more industrial feel than a typical banquet room.
The Hamilton Room adds chandeliers, hardwood floors and a view over the city, a step up in formality from High Gravity, while Room Five is the most contemporary of the set, with artistic lighting, glass doors and expansive city views that suit a reception leaning modern rather than rustic. Between the three named rooms and the beer garden, the venue covers a wide range of styles under one roof.
Amenities
Catering is handled on site with custom menu options built around pub favorites and Pennsylvania Dutch influence, using locally sourced ingredients, so the same kitchen that runs the restaurant floor can staff a private event upstairs. The full bar pours Fegley’s own flagship brews, including Hop Explosion, Always Sunny Pale Ale, Knuckleball and the award-winning Hop’solutely, alongside bottles from the wider lineup.
A bridal suite is available for getting ready before the ceremony, and free off-street parking removes one of the more common headaches of a downtown venue. Al fresco dining and a beer garden give guests somewhere to spread out between the ceremony and reception, or during cocktail hour, without leaving the building.
Location & Getting There
The venue sits in downtown Allentown, part of the same revitalization wave that reshaped the surrounding blocks, so guests staying nearby can walk over rather than drive. The building’s five stories mean a wedding party can move between a ceremony space, a cocktail area and a reception room without ever leaving the property, which keeps a multi-part wedding day from turning into a multi-stop day for the guests attending it.
Inside, rooms like the Hamilton Room and Room Five mix hardwood floors with glass and open sightlines over the city, giving a DJ a clean, mostly hard-surfaced room to work in, while High Gravity’s brick walls and original wood floors carry sound with a bit more warmth, useful for a smaller reception that wants music to fill the room without a big system.
