The Space
Greensboro Elks Lodge #602 is a two-story brick building with more than 25,000 square feet of usable space, built up over more than a century since the lodge’s founding in 1900. That scale gives a couple more room types to choose from than a typical single-hall venue: two lounges, a dining room, a conference room, and separate lodge and Auxiliary meeting rooms all sit inside the same building.
The most recent addition, a 900-square-foot building dedicated to Past Grand Exalted Ruler Gerald Coates, was completed in 2007 and sits adjacent to a swimming pool facility built for youth activities. That mix, a fraternal lodge that has kept adding to itself for over a hundred years, means the property reads less like a purpose-built event hall and more like a community campus with an event space built into it.
Capacity & Layout
With over 25,000 square feet spread across two floors, a couple has real flexibility in how they divide their day: a dining room for the seated meal, one of the two lounges for cocktail hour, and the game room, with its three regulation pool tables, as an activity space for guests between the ceremony and the reception. That kind of built-in variety is unusual for a single venue.
The health room, with its steam shower and sauna, and the three swimming pools on the property are not typical wedding amenities, but they point to how the lodge was built for extended community use rather than single-day events, which is worth knowing when touring: not every room here will be part of a wedding rental, and a couple should confirm which spaces are included before finalizing a layout.
Amenities
The dining room’s connection to an on-site kitchen supports catered meals directly in the building rather than requiring food to be trucked in from off site. A large parking lot serves the property, which matters given the lodge’s overall size and the range of activities, from swimming to card games, that can be happening on the grounds at once.
Meeting spaces, the lodge meeting room, the Auxiliary meeting room, and a separate conference room, offer additional options for a rehearsal dinner or a smaller gathering the day before the wedding itself, without needing to book a second venue across town. The three swimming pools and health room amenities also make the property a candidate for a multi-day wedding weekend rather than a single evening’s event.
Location & Getting There
The lodge has served the Triad community since 1900, and its location as an established fraternal hall gives it the kind of long civic history that a newer, purpose-built event venue does not have. We have worked a wedding at Greensboro Elks Lodge and set up in one of its indoor rooms, which gave us a chance to see how the building’s various spaces connect.
Because the lodge is a two-story brick building with multiple distinct indoor rooms, dining room, lounges, meeting rooms, rather than one open hall, a DJ setup benefits from a contained, walled-in space where sound stays with the room instead of spreading across an open floor plan, closer to a banquet hall’s acoustics than to a barn or an outdoor tent.
