The Space

East West started as a 3,600-square-foot warehouse in West Asheville built to hold a growing vintage collection: sofas, distressed farm tables, mismatched china, stemware, flatware, and props gathered by owner Nikki Whited since 2013. For a stretch of years that same warehouse doubled as an event space, and we set up a reception inside it, working DJ equipment around a room stacked with the same vintage furniture couples were renting piece by piece for their own tables.

As of 2024, the warehouse no longer rents out as an event venue, so a couple planning ahead should know this page describes what the space was rather than what it currently books. What has not changed is the rental side of the business: the same 3,600 square feet still functions as a working showroom, which is worth knowing if a couple is sourcing vintage tableware or furniture for a wedding held somewhere else.

Capacity & Layout

When the warehouse operated as an event space, East West specialized in gatherings of 50 guests and under, which put it in a different category from a full wedding reception hall: this was a room built for rehearsal dinners, bridal showers, and small parties rather than large seated dinners. A couple weighing a space this size needs a guest list already trimmed to an intimate count, since there was no capacity beyond that fifty-guest ceiling to plan a bigger layout around.

The warehouse itself was laid out as a combined showroom and event space, meaning the vintage collection that filled its shelves and floor also furnished whatever gathering was held there. That dual purpose shaped the room: tables, seating, and dinnerware were already on hand rather than trucked in, which simplified setup for a small event but also meant the floor plan flexed around whatever stock happened to be on display that week.

Amenities

The core amenity here was the collection itself: vintage sofas for a lounge area, distressed farm tables for seating, and a full run of mismatched china, stemware, and flatware, all available to rent directly from the same building hosting the event. A couple did not need to source a separate rental company for tabletop pieces, since the warehouse’s inventory was the amenity, on site and already curated toward a vintage look.

Rental terms carried a $150 minimum before delivery, rising to $350 for deliveries over 15 miles and $500 beyond 30 miles, with a 6 percent damage waiver covering normal wear on the tableware. East West Vintage Rentals also won a WeddingWire Couples’ Choice Award in 2018, a sign the business had an established reputation among wedding vendors in the Asheville area well before it stepped back from hosting events itself.

Location & Getting There

East West operates out of West Asheville, and the delivery pricing structure, with its 15-mile and 30-mile distance tiers, gives a sense of how the rental side of the business reaches events across the wider Asheville area even now that the warehouse itself is not booking receptions. We worked here while the space was still active as a venue, so we know its layout even though it is not one we can currently offer for a booking.

Because the room combined a retail showroom with event seating, a DJ setup inside it had to share floor space with furniture on display rather than working an empty hall, which meant sound gear went in tighter and closer to guests than in a purpose-built reception room. That closeness, in a warehouse full of soft vintage upholstery and fabric, softened the room’s acoustics in a way a bare industrial space would not.
