The Space
Prince Bernhard laid the cornerstone on this property in September 1965, and it opened two years later, on December 8, 1967, as the Curacao Hilton, with Governor Nicolaas Debrot and Conrad Hilton himself on hand. Designed by the Puerto Rico firm Toro Ferrer working with local architect Ben Smit, it was only the third seaside hotel to open on the island, after the Avila Hotel in 1949 and the Hotel Curacao Intercontinental in 1955.
The name has changed several times since, through Curacao Concorde, Curacao Caribbean Resort, Curacao Casino Resort, and Sheraton Curacao Resort before a $15 million renovation in 2019 brought the current name, Dreams Curacao Resort, Spa & Casino. The grounds themselves preserve something older still: the remains of Fort Piscadera, an 18th-century fortification built to defend the bay from English, Spanish, and French raids, restored and worked into the resort’s landscaping rather than fenced off from it.
Capacity & Layout
The main ballroom seats up to 400 guests and anchors 7,442 square feet of total meeting and event space, enough for a large wedding to hold both ceremony and reception under one roof if a couple wants to stay indoors. That range lets a couple choose a ceremony backdrop distinct from the reception room entirely, a beach ceremony at sunset followed by a ballroom reception, without needing to bring in outside vendors to build a second location.

With 249 rooms on site, split between 117 single-bed rooms, 119 double-bed rooms, and 12 suites, the resort can house a large wedding party and its guests without anyone needing an off-site hotel. Seven restaurants and bars handle catering and dining as part of the all-inclusive structure, and Dreams Spa by Pevonia is on site for a couple who wants spa time built into the wedding weekend itself.
The casino holds the only poker room in Curacao and the only sportsbook on the island with live betting, a built-in late-night option for guests who want more than the reception itself. A PADI-certified dive center, three outdoor pools, and an adults-only Preferred Club section called Il Mare with its own infinity pool and gourmet restaurant round out what guests have to do across a multi-day wedding weekend. The resort sits on Piscadera Bay with two private beaches, about 8 miles or 15 minutes from Hato International Airport, close enough that guests are not facing a long transfer after landing. Willemstad, the capital and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is about 2 miles away, giving guests a historic city to explore during a multi-day wedding trip without leaving the island.
