The Space
Dive Bar Winston-Salem is an arcade bar that opened in April 2024 on Burke Street in the Historic West End neighborhood of Winston-Salem. The bar is the fifth location of the Dive Bar chain, which originated in Mooresville in November 2021 with a concept of combining the unpretentious atmosphere of a traditional dive bar with classic arcade games and entertainment. The Winston-Salem location is housed in a ground-floor space filled with vintage and modern arcade games: pool tables, dartboards, skee-ball, basketball hoops, claw machines, guitar hero, boxing punch machines, and Jurassic Park arcade games.
The space is a single open arcade bar with full bar service and weekend food offerings (simple fare like hot dogs and pretzel bites). The vibe is casual and energetic, designed for both daytime family fun and nighttime adult entertainment. A jukebox and games fill the space, and the atmosphere is intentionally unpretentious and welcoming.
Capacity & Layout
The venue is family-friendly until 8 PM daily, with minors under 18 allowed with adult supervision. After 8 PM, it becomes 21+ with valid ID. The space is a single ground-floor room, so there is no separation between dining, drinking, and gaming areas. It works best for groups that want to mingle, play games, and socialize rather than sit down for a plated meal or formal ceremony.
The arcade games are spread throughout the space, and the layout is designed for circulation and casual gathering rather than theater-style seating or a formal reception flow. A DJ could work from one corner of the space, but the venue is fundamentally built for casual entertainment and games, not speeches or structured events.
Amenities
Dive Bar offers a full bar with multiple daily specials, and food service on weekends after 8 PM. Weekly events include Service Industry Night (Tuesdays), line dancing (Wednesdays 7 to 8:30 PM with half-price games), college night with live DJ (Thursdays), and live DJ nights on Saturdays during spring and summer. On-street parking is available along both sides of Burke Street, with additional parking in nearby surface lots and public downtown options, many free in the evenings.
The venue is laid-back and game-focused, so amenities are entertainment-oriented rather than formal event services. The full bar and weekend food keep guests engaged, and the games themselves are the main attraction.
Location & Getting There
Burke Street sits in the Historic West End neighborhood near downtown Winston-Salem, close to the Downtown Arts District and near Truist Stadium, home of the Winston-Salem Dash minor league baseball team. Truist Stadium opened in 2010 and catalyzed neighborhood development along Burke Street, making it one of the more active entertainment corridors in the city. The area has independent shops, restaurants, and galleries, with Art Crush street fair held every third Friday from April through December.
The venue is indoors on a ground floor with hard surfaces (concrete, arcade games, bar fixtures) and a moderate ceiling. The acoustic environment will be lively, with games, music, and conversation creating ambient noise. A DJ booth would need to compete with existing game sounds and bar activity. The room is open and horizontal, so sound carries throughout, making it essential for a DJ to manage levels and monitor placement carefully.
